there is still a memory leak in BF2

Even after patch 1.02 wathever EA/dice are saying but there is still a memory loss in BF2.

When playing like 2-3 hours my FPS drops to like 15 or something while it's normal 50 to 70 .

Started logging my memory usage and it happens like this.

have 1.5 gig ram in my pc and when BF starts it uses something like 700 to 800 Mb with peaks of 850 Mb.

After some time, mostly 2 hours it suddenly starts to rise to 1100Mb with peaks of 1300 Mb .

Talked to a guy I know and he had the same thing, it doesn't always happen but it does happen, after playing for some time the FPS drops, maybe not everyone notice it because FPS can drop from average 50 to average 40 due to memory loss.

Problem is solved when closing down BF2 , clean swap file and restart BF2.

EA/dice, do someting about it, make your dam program work like it should be

Easier said than done, I'm sure they are aware of it and are working on it. Patience is a virtue.

Yup, you're right on the money about that leak. I just stopped playing because my game came to a stutter after a good 3+ hours of playing.

I'm an insomniac by the way.

My brother and me don't have a memory leak. We can play for 3 hours straight in one server and FPS will stay as it was before.

Haha the memory leak was only in the server distributions anyway. All machines will tend to degenerate over hours of gameplay on most games, it's just the way pc games are built, WoW/CS:S/eq2/q3 are just a few that after 3-4 hours gameplay your machine will become a little sluggish anyway.

A memory leak for the client software was never actually there or confirmed, again it was only the server side mem leak that was noted and fixed.

Well all has been OK for me until yesterday night. I have been playing happily for 3-5 hours a night no problems. Before the patch it was hit and miss I could lock up and hard reboot after 5 mins in a server or 3 hours. Sometimes it would happen 4 times and then be fine for the night.

Then yesterday it locks up after about 3 hours and does a hard reboot. I left it for the night, I just got in and fired up the game....it rebooted after about 5-10 mins.

                Time for bed
