Problems since 1.02 , please help.

    First my basic system specs.

    Amd athlon 3200+
1gb geil pc 3200 ram (2x512 dual channel)
    Sapphire 9800 pro 128mb 256bit
    Asus A7N8X deluxe

Now here is the problem , when playing the game will either a) Totally freeze and I have to reset or b) Black screen , then I have to reset. Sometimes I can play for hours and it's fine , other times it will keep doing it within 10-15min till I give up and play something else.

Happens in both single player and multiplayer , no punkbuster and punkbuster servers.

Now what I've tried to fix it is this.

1)Updated all drivers , motherboard , graphics etc.
    2)Manually updated punkbuster.
3)Run with nothing in the background , antivirus ,firewall off.
4)Uninstalled bf2 totally. All registry entries gone , profiles gone , everything gone. Then reinstalled , still does.
    5) Checked temps and they are fine when it crashes.
6)Lowered settings , still does it.
7)Turned off vpu recover and any other uncessary graphics options.
    8) Tried some older graphics drivers and still does , tried other one's like omega and still bad.
9)Scanned for spyware/virus etc still no go.

No help still does it. One thing though , if I leave my system exactly as it is reinstall battlefield 2 , but do not patch it will run fine untill I decide to quit , was fine with 1.1 which was suppose to be bad. So it only happens with 1.02 the supposedly fixed patch .

Also every other game is perfectly fine , only Battlefield 2 1.02 does it ,1.0 fine , 1.1 fine ,1.02 bad.

Please help , last hope before I email ea support , which I don't really want to do.

Its related to your sound card, what is your sound card?

    Audigy?

    www.creative.com/support/

Download the BETA drivers with OpenAL support and EAX 4.0. Then go into dxdiag (Start > Run > type "dxdiag") and on the sound tab slide the acceleration to basic. Not only will it run better, but VoIP will work on a consistant basis!

I had graphics problems after the latest patch, uninstalling Mcafee firewall fixed it for me.

Oh I have McAfee Virusscan which also acts as a firewall.

Well I disabled the virusscan and microsoft's firewall but I mean...lol I hate firewalls

Knew I forgot something . I don't have a creative sound card , I use the onboard soundstorm.

Drivers for that are up to date aswell.

Will dropping to basic sound help on that , or is that a solution to a audigy specific problem?.
