Please help! Game was fine before patch. After I patched to 1.02 I got punkbuster error and was getting booted. I updated the pb client manually (pbweb) but now BF2 will not start. All it does it show the splash screen for a few seconds, then disappear but no game. BF2.exe is in the task manager as well as "~e5.0001". What is the problem? Please help! I'm running an ati 9600xt aiw (driver v 5.7) on an athlon xp 2800 with 1GB ram.

Reinstall your video and sound drivers. Also reinstall DirectX 9.0c -
Thanks for the reply. I shoul dhave mentioned that I did uninstall my graphics and update them. My sound drivers are part of the nforce unified so I was hoping to not mess with my mobo drivers if I don't have to. THen again, maybe I have too :-) I also reinstalled the directx 9.0c drivers.
I was able to play for a bit last night after a restart but the problem reappeared as the game shuts down on me after an hour or so and then I can't get it started again.Comment

Try making sure that your video resolution settings arn't too much for your monitor. Check and/or modify the "video.con" file here: "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001"
And try setting the resolution to "800x600@60Hz" just to see if you can start the game up.Comment

I liked the idea since the setting was at 75 mhz. I'm using a flat screen so 60 is what it should be set at. I made the change but the game still won't open.
Could it be connected to the ~e5.0001 that is running? I hear the dvd spinning up but nothing happens.Comment

Try re-installing the game. I had this problem temporarily, but I just uninstalled my video drivers, used Driver Cleaner 3, and then re-installed the most recent drivers.Comment
