    Mouse twitching!

Every minute my mouse twitches while I play. I could be walking and all of the sudden by mouse twitches and I'm suddenly facing a different direction. Or if I'm flying, I'm suddenly flying into the ground. It's very annoying and started happening the last few days. A lot of time it got me killed. I thought it was my old mouse so I got a new one and the problem went away for a few days, but today it's back. Anyone know what causes this?

Does the game freeze momentarily? If so its an FPS drop, and we need system specs, and in-game settings to solve this.

If it freezes, it's only for a fraction of a second, but I don't think it is. Just picture this: you're walking and all of the sudden you're looking in a different, random direction.

      My specs:
      2500 AMD (2.1ghz oc'd)
      1.5g 3200 ram
      9600XT

Settings are on medium, with 100% scaling and 1024x768 resolution.

Like I said before, the game ran fine for more than 3 weeks before. I don't know what started causing this. My punkbuster files are manually updated. I tried rebooting. I see nothing unusual in running processes.

Does this happen in Windows as well? It sounds like you're getting an FPS drop to me, or the server is laggin which causes a delay in the response of your mouse (it happens to me sometimes). Also have you tried just walking without touching the mouse, in a strait line (down a run way for example) to see if it happens?

Also make sure you have the latest drivers for all of your hardware

I have the same problem. Ran great for about 2 weeks not I get what seems to be hardware lag, but it's all the same hardware as before.. amd64 3800+, 1 gig ram, 6600gt video card. Don't know what the heck is going on. Rebooting the computer didn't help

Well there is an issue with Audigy2 sound cards dropping a frame every 5-10 causing a split second lag, which could be causing this. So if it doesn't happen in Windows, then simply go to creative's website and get the Beta drivers with OpenAL support.

I Also have the same problem?!
I recently put my audio quality settings to medium. Maybe thats why I lag?

              I run everything on medium.

I mean when I'm playing I just face a totally different direction. + My ping is pretty high--much more then normal.

This problem used to happen once a while. Now it happens practically all the time?!

Do you think if I ran everything on low, including audo--would it help?

Thanks! ( I dont really have many things running. All my processes are low consumers.)

The ping is related to the patch. Nothing you can do except for find a good server and keep with it. I play on the =LAF= server and I get pings in the 20s and 30s.

Well actually I put everything on low and I played great on a few servers??!? Except one where it kicked like half of the people on at the same time at one point but...Other then that its great!

I think I'll update my patch. Was too lazy to do it but now I think it'll make a big difference :)

Sounds like the optical lens is starting to go. Or your mouse pad is causing it issues. I have a darker mouse pad, and a Logitech MX310, with no problems.

                        Re: Mouse twitching!

I had this same problem. Turns out to be the sound card. I have an ASUS
                        A7N8X-X motherboard with onboard sound.

When I turned off the VOIP in BF2 the gameplay improved dramtically and the problem discussed here did not re-occur.

So I disabled the onboard sound and put in an old Soundblaster 128 vibra to test the theory, and it worked quite well. Turned on the VOIP and still no problems. So even with older sound cards BF2 will work, but I guess my onboard realtec sound did not make the grade with VOIP turned on.

Hope this helps all those out there who tried but could not find the answer!

                          Re: Mouse twitching!

I have been having the exact same issues as of late...I had recently purchaced 2 new Logitech mice, 1 is 100 dpi...I was thinking that the sensitivity was set too high, so I lowered and still have the same issues...I will also get a spinning affect, that is driving me crazy.....

This has only been happening since I built my new machine...

                          1000dpi

i have the exact problem and i got the solution- well the answer, its a bug/glitch, like you see on the top of the screen in a infantry server [ARTILLARY]bob92 and you think wtf? it always happens to me, once i was in a apc and it happend, i let go of the mouse as soon as it happened and i kept spinning and spinning VERY fast, i got dizzy, its EA's fault, dont bother finding updates buying cards etc, but if it solves the problem for you then good for you!
