What difference is the difference between a $60.00 nforce4, and a $150.00 nforce4?

Don't worry about the RAM brand it doesn't make a whole lot of difference in the real world as long as it's fairly good quality. Even dual channel doesn't show that much improvement. Depends on how much extra it will cost though if it's not much get it. Everyone worries about the latency. Have you ever seen any benchmarks from really fast RAM to slow RAM. 5% if that. And you can be talking double or triple the cost.
You would benefit much more from 2GB of decent RAM than 1GB of overpriced "super fast" RAM.
Also get socket 939. Difference between mobo prices usually boils down to the extras on the board such as sound quality, IR support, SATA, RAM slots etc. Check the specs and basically just buy what you need or what you'll use. Save the cash to put to something else.Comment

I agree, there is no point in buying old technology. Get a socket 939 w/SLI. This will require you to get a PCI-E graphics card though. You're also missing a sound card, which WILL EFFECT performance! Get an Audigy2 ZS. They were $71 @ NewEgg just the other day.Comment

im using an nForce board. it didnt require anything for it to make bf2 run good. but yeah nForce is great, go with it. also go with a sound card, on board sound never seems to be the best. network cards arnt needed if you buy a good mobo, thats trueComment

Wait, so sound cards will affect in-game performance? I really couldn't care less about sound, on-board sound is fine with me, but if it will affect performance, then i guess i'll have to shell out more money...
And F.L.C, I really don't have 1600 bucks to spend, the total is 600.00 for a reason.Comment
