    Computer Reboots

    Hey,

    I'm running a 3.2 Ghz, P4, 1GB memory, 256 ATI Radeon with latest drivers.

The game was running fine. I have played for many hours. Then I updated to the latest patch.

Now the computer reboots (completely) every time I try to play online. Most reboots happen within 5 seconds of joining a game some a few minutes into play.

I can't play the damn game at all now. I know the logical thing is to backout the last patch (if I can do so), but then I can't find a server with the current version (or is that a bug in the browser).

Any info or anyone else having this damn reboot problem.

    Thanks,

    Ron

Also check for spyware and worms. Things like sasser like to shut down a computer after about 30 seconds of being rebooted. Only, if it was something like sasser you should've gotten and popup window saying that your computer will be shutdown in X seconds.

I am guessing you are having the same problem as these people and myself. Very Frustrating.

                I'm thinking memory dump.

I occassionally have a sudden reboot and noticed when I ctrl/alt/delete as soon as my desktop is back from the restart...there is a new process called "savedump.exe" running. Restarting the computer again manually removes this savedump.exe from starting.

Upon googling that process, it seems to be a memory failure recovery. I am using 2x512 pc2700 value ram, which I believe is 100% responsible for my random reboots. Even though it only happens maybe once a week, it still happens.

Friends with identical computers down to the last wire...except for having 2x1024 ram...have no problems at all!!!

Just to test this, borrow a friends ram and max your system ram out for trials.

Maybe you should try reinstalling the whole game, and without playing the game install the update then try!

Just like a couple of other ppl have said here..sometimes a fresh install of BF really does the trick.

I've had to reinstall twice over a period of a couple of months. It's annoying but it beats the hell out of spending hours trying to troubleshoot bad code EA writes

Is it so hard to believe its the game causing this? and not your hardware? Correction to my last post, mine is NOT working. Are you people actually suggesting that 20 people are having the same problem because of hardware issues? Cmon peeps. BF2 is buggy as hell and its the only game most of us have problems with. Its not your computer dont waste your time and money reparing it. Find a better game to play, BF and EA can suck my ass.

I agree, ITS THE GAME, THE GAMES BUGS. I can play any other game made at 1600x1200 resolutiona and everything MAXED out. Play BF2 Only on Multiplayer and after a round it crashes and restarts. I get a mem dump error. I can play single player all day long No problems. I think it has to do with NVIDIA and EA and all this new SHADING and TEXTURES CRAP.
