Staff Officer Ribbon!

I've tried and tried to get this only ending up with 49 commander score being the closest and all my other efforts being lower like 20's or 30's... how in the heck have some of you gotten 50? I focus on commanding the whole game and usually don't move much... any certain tips that can help me greatly??? Thanks for any responses :)

hey i try but what are the odds of getting on a good map 64ppl being the commander and not getting a whole load of n00bs running into ur arty and punishing good luck it getting it

I am trying for this ribbon too, i think you have to do a little grunt work too.
Basically, try and go with a squad on a flag capture run, kill a few enemies and get some flag points from time to time. Then hide and continue as commander.
I think this is the best method, if there are no team players asking for drops, uavs etc etc. Mix n Match.

Well, if somebody didn't know....only UAV gives you the commander points = 1 kill in the UAV zone = 1 commander point, so try using the UAV next to your team and don't waste it showing your team where the enemies are...one time I got like over 70 points in Mashtuur, but it only happened cuz my team wasn't using the BH (usmc), I didn't get the ribbon though, cuz I also had to be a commander for at least 30 minutes before getting a score of 50+

I have played as Commander only for three ours and got the Basic Command Badge AND the Staff Officer Ribbon!!!

Don't no how exactly, just lucky i guess, still glad i've got them though :)

easist thing to do is camp in a safe place, run alot of scans, shell enemies capturing flags and shell large groups of enemies. do it in a small server with a large map. that way the kill tickets will go down slower and youll have more time to do it

I too only played for a short amount of time and received the Staff Officer ribbon. I think just playing smart while acting as commander is key. I didn't know about the UAV scan being the only way to get points as a commander, but if that's the case - use the UAV TONS! :) Good luck with it!

I got both basic command and Staff Officer on my first try too. O_o
You just gotta be lucky and have a smart team.

If you use the commander role as a kind patriarch looking after your team with supplies and uavs, not nukeing your own... its easy to get high scores.

Tips:

Always UAV before Artillery
Always type a warning before Artillery
Drop supplies on your armor during a fire fight to repair
Drop supplies on your support equipment to repair
Guide your team with attack/defend command

I only played as command only once or twice and got the basic command but staff officer ribon had nothing to do with me beeing commander. If i remember right i got it as squad leader.

COuld get in a chopper and blackwhore whore while you command in the back of it meaning that you will be getting points and commanding

no, you won't be getting any points if you're a commander...no matter how many people you kill, heal, resupply, etc...

to get stuff officer's ribbon in 100 ticket ratio server you have to be lucky so

a) you and opposite team don't kill each other fast
b) take over the flags frequently...as more flags your team caps the more pts you get...
c) no matter how many artillery kills you get - you score won't go up (unless enemy were in process of taking the flag, you kill them and get that "defended flag" message)..that's why I never use artillery even if one of my teammates is near by....

the part that pisses me off about this ribbon is that i've gotten it 4 times and its never registered...

oh yeah, and to the guy who says you only get a point if someone gets killed while in a UAV, i don't think thats accurate... cause then commanders would be able to rack up points just waiting for an enemy to cap a point, then UAV/arty them... i've gotten up to 10 kills just from 1 artillery shell while it was UAVed and i didn't get any points... and ive also commanded maps where i haven't used UAV at all... i just sat there and tried to soak up points and command time for the other ribbon, but i still got score comparable to what it would have been if i would have done all my commanderly duties

Yeah, that UAV thing is bogus.
Even if he means allied kills(kills not by you) within the UAV radar range are worth a point, it still doesn't make sense. I've been on teams where my UAV is trashed and still got points at a fairly steady rate.

To my understanding the Staff Officer Ribbon was:
-28 minutes as commander in a round(so forget Karkand)
-50 commander points in a round
I have yet to get it.

BTW, TK's don't effect your commander score. So if you have 40 commander points and 3 TK's w/o punish(-12 for all non-math majors) your global score would be 28, but you would still be eligible for the Basic Command Badge b/c of your 40 commander score.

This one and the Meritorious Ribbon have been extremely hard for me b/c I meet the criteria for points, but the round ends before 26 or 28 minutes. I had 46 teamwork points on Oman Gulf that lasted just shy of 24 minutes I think. Sucked.

I got both the Basic Command badge and the Ribbon in one round which I also believe was my best round score to boot
