Dual Processor Support

I don't know exactly what section this would fit into because I am kind of in a bind to get this solved. Anyway, the other day I got a really good deal on a Tyan Tiger MP board w/2 1.7 GHZ athlon xp 2000 (called MP2000s). Battlefield does not detect that I have over 1.7. The EA EasyInfo says that I am running a 1666.9 GHZ! WTF is that. I know factory the chip isn't exactly running at what it says but that really sucks. My big question is, How do I make my system recognized so that it will run the game. Thanks in advance for your help.

Edit - What I meant was 1.69 Ghz (Basically 1699.9 Mhz)

ok i'm going to guess thats 1.6GHZ since i recently read in PC mag that the fastest single processor was like 600 or 900GHZ. i cant remember exactly but it was not over 1000.

Anyway what you have bought would seem great but not for anything practical. To take advantage of dual CPU set up you need special programs that were writen for that. Battlefield 2 was not. In fact VERY FEW programs were. I can only think of really High end Photoshop. So for the most time the 2nd CPU will just remain idle and you would be wasting money. Sorry man but you should have done some reserach before you bought it.

Should have done your research... i mean, atleast just look over the whole dual processor thing...

They don't combine and somehow double the speed (and the GHZ). They will give you NO performance increase in BF2, it will be as if you're running it on one processor (well, you are). Only specially written programs support and utilize dual CPU's. Not too many out there, especially where games are concerned.

The reason I bought this particular set up in the first place was in fact for photo editing and using MAYA for 3D rendering for school projects. I just thought while Iwas at it I could install BF on the new comp as well. I will just keep my current comp for BF instead. Thanks for helping me out though.

2 1.7GThz processors does not = 3.4Ghz of speed, no, thats not how it works, so when it says your speed is 1.7Ghz its corrent.

its a server motherboard meant for servers not desktop use, as people have said before you need to have specialist software to run 2 cpu's.

Games are only programed single threaded meaning they will only use 1 CPU and Im afraid an XP2000 wont cut the mustard for BF2. A duel processor system wont perform as well as a single XP2000 running on an Nforce mobo due to overheads and fact that that the chipset is designed for servers and not high speed gaming. Only usefull if you want to play BF2 whilst ripping cds/rendering etc as one CPU does the gaming and the other works on the other stuff. Windows handles the load between the CPUS. Wont be long untill we see multi-threaded games thanks to new xbox/ps3.
