Patch 1.03 addresses most of your issues. You can download some tool mentioned on the totalbf2 home page to address some of your server bowser issues.

I think that you have every right to voice your concerns as loudly as you wish, and in any just and fair manner that you see fit to voice them in. I just don't realistically see your server-shut-down plan as ever happening. I think if you're really, really lucky you might get a dozen server admins to agree to it and say it's a good idea, and when the time comes to shut them down, maybe 3 or 4 will actually go through with it. And, that's if you're really diligent in spreading the word.

But, by all means, give it your best shot and try to surprise me!

Remember patch 1.01, it was supposed to fix all this, then came along 1.02
SoI'm not holding my breath for 1.03.

Well actually, no. 1.01 was never intended to "fix all of this." If I remember correctly, EA actually stated specifically that the first patch would not address gameplay issues, and that those would be addressed in a later patch. 1.02 was really just a hotfix that addressed problems created by the first patch.

Even if you made it to work, it would not help. You can't fix human stupidity by any possible way.

im just gonna wait and see if 1.03 will fix most of these problems..but the human stupidity is the main problem..

You should download that new server browser that came out it works great. But otherwise you will have to wait for the patch which doesnt come out til the end of august.

Exactly my thoughts. Most of the problems are caused by... us players. I'm not a fanboy but you don't need exta-sensorial powers to see that bf2, the game 'itself', is nothing but a good game. Sadly, its success kinda ruined it, let's hope the hype goes away in a few months so we can enjoy better patches and cool mods.

i dont know about everyone else, but i have no problem finding servers with 64 men, takes only a couple seconds...

its true, i cant see this happening, however, I have always been a true supporter of the loads of problems i see with this game being fixed...i made a list somwhere. Unfortuantly, Im not gonna be around to play by mid august...so this 1.03 means nothing to me. I dont know this for a fact, but i feel the need to believe that EA is doing everythign they can to fix these problems...the real problem stems from the fact that most of the problems are FOOLISH and should have been address before the game hit stores...i mean did they not test this game pre-release? And if they did see these errors before, the only explaination is that they figured they'd fix em in patches...

I wish game companys would just give out as perfect a game as possibe...like console game developers..you cant d/l a patch for it...so they try extra hard to make sure its as good as possible...but for the pc games, they simply half ass it figureing they'll fix it later.....lame

yea everything you describe is true and utterly irritating. this game needs to mature fast as possible, noobs need to stop worrying about ranks and stats and settle into just playing the game for fun. but...

a 24 hour "strike" is not gonna happen. just forget it. plus how would it send a message to ea? about what exactly? everything you describe is down to moronic players? i agree the "time played" based ranking system is the worst thing to ever happen to the bf series, i can't believe they did it to a game with such great potential. i mean they said they wanted to improve public teamwork, have people creating squads and working together, they added voip then they go and destroy all of it by introducing lame "time played" based stats... now every noob in the world is thinking he's "leet" cos he gave up his life to play bf2, meanwhile all of us real players have sh"t games day after day with servers full of rambo players. christ it's even more rambo-ish to play this than it was to play bf42 or bfv!

but anyway, back to the point. i'm an admin of a ranked server and agree that the players are being total d1cks this last couple of weeks, but how is sending ea a message of any kind going to stop people being c0cks?

I found an awesome solution. I re-installed Half Life 2 and played through the story again. No bugs, no morons, no crashing to desktop, no stupid server browser... and man, it was great. I almost forgot what "fun" gaming was sometime around June 21st.

I suggest you try the same, then when the miraculous v1.3 comes out give it a shot.

as i see it, the biggest problem with this game is the server browser

i just cannot rant enough about it. we, the players, got screwed just because EA thought it would be a good idea to cut a deal with gamespy for this whole account/server fiasco. ive never seen a worse server browser in my life. its slow to respond, prone to crashing (my whole computer completely frozen, nonetheless. its bad enough when a GAME crashes your computer, but a freaking SERVER BROWSER?!) has no functionality, and is otherwise free of all redeeming features.

thier fix? plaster a fat sign up on the browser window for 10 minutes while it queries the slow-as-molasses gamespy master server. why not use some tried and true formula? ive used dozens of server browsers, and nearly all of them were usable while the master server was being contacted, had a favorites list, allowed me to look at more detailed stats for the server, etc etc. there is NO EXCUSE for this, in my mind.

i look at it like this: by going with this whole gamespy account thing, we, the players, end up with...stats. ok, its pretty good. they lock some content so as to hold a carrot in front of our noses, which might be some people's cup of tea, but it sure isnt mine. if i wanted an mmorpg, id go play one. but what do we loose, as players? a good, functional server browser, access to full game features by the average player, changeable nicknames, quick start up times (you know, the three hours it sometimes seems to take to contact the account server, not to mention the number of people who simply CAN'T contact it)...

while i appreciate that for some, stats is worth it, for me it just isnt. i dont want these special 'accounts,' 'stats,' and 'unlockables' if it means the amount of frustration i get just trying to find a server. the first half hour of my gaming time is taken up with wrestling with the account system, menus, and server browser. id much rather be playing this awesome game during all that time.
