    Trouble hearing voices? Disable EAX.

Thought I'd share this tip, I've seen others on the forum with the same problem. I've only been playing VF2 for a couple of weeks. When I first got the game, I've got a nice newly built gaming system, so I went in and maxed out all of the graphics and sound options, and enabled EAX in the process without really knowing what it was (even though I now know my machine doesn't support it).

Everything still worked fine, and I still heard sound... lots of it in fact, but I could never hear anybody else using the VOIP. Every now and then I'd hear some faint voices in the background, but there was no way to hear what they were saying through the cacophony of sound. I figured I must be the only guy in the world playing the game with a headset.

On a whim I disabled EAX... and wow, suddenly I could hear people talking. The sounds are a lot more balanced now too. The flag waving in the breeze in the courtyard used to have the exact same volume as the tank rumbling right next to me. Now the relative volumes make a lot more sense. It actually took awhile to get used to... everything seemed too quiet.

Anyway, if you never hear any voice chatter... you might check your EAX setting.

      VF2? what's that? virtua fighter 2?

      lol

anyway, nice tip, will try it out, i have other problems with eax like it makes the game sounds too loud and creates distortion on my soundcard, i fixed it by lowering the main effects volume to 85% but i could live without the eax effects (reverb, location effects, placement effects, etc) to have the voip work properly.

Ah, yeah... VF2=BF2, sorry about that, finger slipped.

I think my finger was fatigued from always frantically trying to shoot that guy bearing down on me, while instead all I'm doing is camly reloading my gun because I forgot to do it beforehand. "Hey, maybe if I click the mouse a little harder I'll reload faster..."

Man, if I had a dollar for every time that's happened to me
