Battlefield2 w/NVIDIA locking up computer issue

guys..i think i have found it..at least i hope.

i play battlefield for 10-15 minutes, and game freezes unexpectly, and i have to hit the reset button to reboot.

i have a AMD 4000+, geforce 7800GTX, OCZ dual channel 2x1GB and Asus A8N deluxe.

i was starting to feel fustrated..i thought (after the bux i shelled out for this rig) that a part might be bad....but everything checks good.

long story short, i u have crash problem, try this....
go into the advanced NVIDIA properties of ur gfx card, and set a profile for bf2.exe where AF and AF will be application controlled checked off under performance and quality settings...so far it hasnt crashed for me yet...

i was playing BF2 with 4xAA and 8xAF. i just would crash after 10-15 mins.

i cant tell if it is BF2 or the nviida drivers (i am using the 77.76 beta) , but all i know is that before patch 1.02, it was ALL GOOD!!!!

let me kno if this works out for anyone else...

i have that exact problem. sometines i can play for up to 60 min before a lockup then the reset. i too i'm running the betas. i did not see a bf2 driver setting in my 6800gt properties screen. i am using the global driver settings and i do have application controlled checked. but in the game setting i think i have aa on 2x. i got crashes both ways. i've tried everything. good game though when it runs :cry:

Standard procedure for me is:

load map in seconds...
wait 1 minute or more for "verifying client"...
once in game my HD light is pegged for 3-5 mins...first 1 minute is total chop
after I run around the entire map to load it, everything is fine...until:

total lockup for 1 solid minute including looping sound effects. I wait it out every time and the game plays smoothly for the rest of the round. I must experince this every time I play.

2x512 pc2700 (there is my problem right there!)

This exact same computer/mobo/HD/gfx using 2x1024 modules plays 110% perfectly!!!

what i do is this..

1) start | settings | control panel
2) click display and go to settings tab
3) click on advanced
4) if u have a nvidia card, go to the tab for your card, i.e. GeForce XXXXXXX
5) click on performance anf quality settings
6) select profile for bf2.exe and set AA and AF to application controlled, and make sure they are also checked AND selected..

tell me how this works for you...

everyone has video card problems, i dont think they can be completely fixed. get random blackouts all the time when the round is over, sometimes it crashes

i have a nvidia 5700. not the beta. i think the 77.72. anyways, i dont get any lag only in the beginning of a map for 30 seconds and i get an average of 90 fps. i put EVERYTHING on low. and i didnt touch any buttons. no lockups, no nothing.

This is also related to sound card. I updated my Audigy2 drivers to the Betas, and EAX 4.0 and thus far no problems. Sound is good, and doesn't drop frames for me. Now to find the VoIP problem.
