wireless network

i have a wireless network, with a router and stuff and a 54Mbps networkscard

websites i go to and stuff all load up very fast,
but when i play bf2 my ping varies from 20 to 500 and i get the message "connectionprobs" very often, even though its a server situated near my place.

so now to play properly i have to directly wire to the router and everything works fine...

anyone knows what the prob is? cause people here in the house dont like a big, long, yellow wire through the house

p.s. i always have my norton firewall off, while playing bf2

You may have a problem with packet loss. Wireless as a rule is not the best for FPS especially one as demanding as BF2.

You could try Larger Gain Antenna or a breeder (amped acsess point )

Same problems with mine, thats why i have a receiver, and then my LAN plugged into it :).

yup i think its the packetloss, ive had a packetloss of 16% on teamspeak, while its normal to have a packetloss of 0,5% or less

Oh Well that seems like alotta packet loss?? What's your brand/model?

Oh and... If you use Wi-Fi G it should be better. If you're using B, that's kinda outdated technology...

Because I play bf2 on wireless (G) and my signal isn't all that great...I'm moving and getting a new router my signals will prolly be at 54mbps and I'm pretty sure the lag that I have once in a while will dissapear...

A Solution:

Well...Of course you could get a new router OR buy a new antenna OR you could make a homemade antenna using household materials.... I saw one of these on a site, they said it improoved DBd by alot...

you could try a access point and connect to that close by. i have 1 for my xbox but ive used it for my laptop ok too.

I not sure if this is possible in your situation, but if you can, move the router into your room. Then try for a direct (cable) link to the router to your computer.

I almost had to settle for a wireless internet connection, but I put the router in my room.

and if my signal is 54mbps and excellent i dont think my father wants to change it, because how could we improve that?
and why could i play bf1942 with a 11mbps connection and not bf2 (and now not even with 54mbps)?

and why is my internetconnection through wire better?

ok i really hate to break it to you but linksys stuff is CRAP, i had it and it couldnt hold the internet connection on wireless or lan for its ****ing life

I useNetgear and it hasnt failed me once, good wireless connection very quick all round, love it.
