MBT versus helis - one direct hit kills?

How many hits from any of the Main Battle Tanks do you think it should take to kill any of the helicopters in BF2?

I'm not bringing this up due to any concerns of difficulty with hitting a heli with a Tank round. This simply a matter of a tank round versus a heli (not a tank in the sky).

I don't think you need the "two shots" of all the helicopters ive shot down with tanks, attack or transport, they have all taken two shots.

Yeah... its hard enough to get a good shot on a heli with a tank... when you hit it... you should be rewarded by flaming wreckage falling from the sky.

This would also help stop the extreme chopper whoring on mashtuur city.

Yeah it should be 1 hit kill. Its not like it is that easy to do though I did get a full blackhawk the over night which made my night

1 hit IMO. They can always sit right on top of you where you can't elevate your gun to get a shot. They need to be weaker than a fricking tank, ffs.

Don't forget that the Armor on the helicopter is so thin that a HEAT round would just go through the hull without exploding.

tank vs helicopter is actually a 1 hit kill... no one really does this, but the tank round pierces armor similarly to the M95 round... so you can literally shoot the pilot out of the helicopter with a tank round and it will fall to the ground and explode (most of the time)

as far as realism, 1 tank round could take out a helicopter if placed right... its left debatable, but if the tank round through and throughed the helicopter, it could still fly unless a hit to the rotors or engine was made... as far as in-game, its good the way it is... the tank is an anti-armor/vehicle/infantry device not an AA gun... thats why they have stingers and IGLAS and linebackers and so on and so forth

1 hit to imobilise (2nd option)

while were on altering the game here lets make rotors a solid object... that will stop alot of the heli capping as they will clip trees and the flagpole itself... job sorted :)

I've destroyed a fair amount of helo's with a tank round + mg follow up (doesn't usually take too much more than the first round), I think the round should make em flame up so they have to at least bail or if hit in the top part or front canopy = instant death.

No use saying what would happen in real life becuase this is a game but being that accurate to a helo with tank rounds does take alot of patience :P ... reward it.

It should be a one hit deal when it comes to tanks. That shell should just rip through the BH's armor, but on ontact should just explode.

With AT kits, it is fine as it is. 2-3 shots for the kill. AA guys are fine as well.

Can you say lag? That is the ONLY reason DICE did not make rotors have collision meshes.

Uh, be a smart tanker and fire both your main gun and your mg at the same time. If you hit with the main round, that knocks them into the red and then the mg finishes them off.

Personally, I think it sucks that all three guns on a tank are highly effective vs. an attack helicopter.

...and don't use reality as you're argument, because bf2 isn't reality, nor even trying to be close.

that doesnt make any sense PBAsydney. lag will get you killed whether rotors have no-clip or not.

on topic, number 2 and shouldnt be able to be repaired in flight.

obviously it is. tanks are big and heaily armoured. jeeps are fast and light. soldiers are soft and go squish when you run them over.
besides realistic is one thing, bloody stupid is something else entirely.

Î have shot tons of choppers out of the sky with a tank, withg a litle praktice it isn't realy difficult, even from realy far.

all the chopprmodels with misiles and stuff , 2shots
blackhawk and choppers like it, 2-3 shots
