Sound on Hardware causing this?

When there is a sound in front of me, I hear no or very little bass from my subwoofer. When there is a sound on the side of me, or behind me, I hear alot of bass. Is this something in particular that the game does when it is set to Hardware, or is this something with my speakers settings?

Check your subwoofer crossover volume, using the lastest drivers, and you have the correct EAX setting implemented.

Put it on software and try that.

I have an Audigy (creative) card and it sounds CR*P on hardware and good on software.
