EA considers renaming

EA considers renaming "Battlefield 2" to "Betafield 2" till Patch 1.03 is out.

A conference of leading EA game developers considers the renaming of their latest product because of the massive complaints in the community. Various petitions and open letters written by bf2-newssites and clans are dramatically increasing the pressure on EA.
Tony Montana from www.bf2heaven.org said to our interviewer: "If EA pushes out a game in beta status they should take the consequences. We started a vote on our website and 96,5% of our community voted for the renaming. That would be an act of honor and would stregthen the trust in EA."
EA public relations manager Bug Lebowski indirectly replied:"If such a renaming satisfies the bf2 community we we seriously think about it. If it makes us sell more copys we will probably do it."

Thats an example of the power of a big community. But Bob Lebowski left no doubts about the re-renaming after the patch 1.03: "We working hard to fix the major bugs and gameplay issues in patch 1.03 to earn back the name "Battlefield 2"

I mean seriously, when was the last time a big publisher pushed out a game that had actually been properly tested and balanced and wasn't basically a beta?

Personally, I think they are crapping in their own nests, but there's always marketing gimps and the like that believe in hype being more important than substance.
