i admin our ranked server. Sometimes we do kick to make room for other members. Usually it is someone with a negative score, high ping, or some tk's. I NEVER kick people for doing well, that's just stupid. Better competition improves your skills I say.

i try to kick based on scores and ping.. but keep in mind some guys who have lower scores than you may be invited or paying members.

exactly, but if EA/DICE hadnt made the medic revives and engineer supplies infinate, then this wouldnt be a problem.

bottom line is that EA are forcing clan server owners into being the public servers they arent providing.

We kick for members as well. It's only fair since they pay money to keep the server going. Whenever a member is trying to get in though I usually ask that they at least try to get in for a minute or two. If they can't get in we always kick the people with negative scores first and if no one is negative then someone who has a low score that is not squaded up.

And no matter what the reason, I think the message the kicked person sees is always the same. That's why it says you were kicked for TK's even if you hadn't tk'd. I haven't tried it out with bf2cc yet to see if the person kicked can be shown a custom message.

According to the screenshots of bf2cc you can but our hosts havent implemented bf2cc yet. Incidentally, can bf2cc be used on a ranked server? i heard it does slot reservation and stuff which may not be agreeable by EA

Did they blatantly repeatedly kill you? If not then, they should have given you a warning and then kicked you if you kept it up but that kind of poor sportsmanship is so common that I will admit that sometimes I have kicked folks without a warning, particularly if I am commanding. Being quick to punish is a sign that you don't play well with others and we hope you enjoy the EA servers.

Again, regarding the thread topic, I think this a rare case that someone is exagerating.

Giving preferential treatment to certain members on a server that's supposed to be for everyone is lame. Very lame. Justify your elitism however you'd like, but that won't change what it is.

We run BF2CC on our ranked server. It works very well and does give some explanations when kicking someone, like making room for admin, high ping, tk'ing, language and so on. As for private slots....we haven't tried that yet because of the EA thing. Maybe we'll give it a go and see what happens.

our server does not kick players because of high scores, players are only kicked for the following reasons:

                        making room for members
                        excessive team killing
                        profanity
                        arguing with admins
                        harassing other players

this is a small snapshot of our server rules, simply put, treat everyone with respect and have fun. Simple enough, right?

You'd be amazed at how many people can't follow simple instructions or don't seem to be there to have a good time.

Also, to the last comment about preferential treatment, if the server was open for all equally, do you really think it would be paid for equally by all?

I know in BF2CC you get a few options as to what to display for kicks...

When I go in I first look at teamkills and score. Anyone with more than 2 Tks and less than 10 points is gonna go first.

Secondly, I look for folks that have 10 kills and 50 deaths, they're not helping their team that much.

Next, high ping, non squadders, etc.

Servers can cost HUNDREDS of dollars A MONTH, so I have no qualms about kicking anyone out of our server. Granted we're not nazi's in the slightest, but when you have folks ponying up 20-40 bucks a month to help out, I gotta make sure they can play.

In UT we got this a lot too. People complaining about a server being locked for a match, etc. Most of the time it was the type of folks who would never pony up 15/month for WoW or other pay-per-month games.

As a clan member, even "free" games like UT and BF2 cost us money each month. The benefit to you, the public, is that our servers are free of charge to you to enjoy as much as possible.

the least the public can do is be patient :)

We link our boards on our server as well - folks that felt wronged are more than encouraged to hop on and let us know. We're always looking to meet new friends :)
