DAO-12 vs Jackhammer

As I approach my next rank I am debating which shotgun to unlock. I havn't found many people using either so I have no real feel for either one. I don't care about the secondary weapons for each kit, im just intrested in which shotgun would be a better choice. For any of you that have unlocked both or got to use them alot which would you say to go for?

No, do not get the shotguns if you like the long-range game. If you are gung-ho and like to charge and spray then go for it.

Well I've already unlocked the G3 so If I'm getting owned at long range I can use that but I want a shottie next.

If you could load the jackhammer like you could the DAO, i would already have it. If you fire like 2 bullets from the jackhammer, you have 5 in your clip and if you reload the waste that clip. The DAO, has 12 shells i believe, and if you shoot 4 on one guy, you can add 4 shells to it w/o wasting the other 8 that were still in the clip. The jackhammer is a better gun, but wastes ammo really fast and only have 7 shells. I don't personally like the DAO, so I would go with the jackhammer, but it comes down to which class you play more/which class you have more fun doing. I wish the jackhammer was the anti-tank unlock...that would own.

I was trying for those basic combat badges last night and had a blast as engineer (aside from being punished for all the teamkills for the mines). But the basic shotty was a kick, and I only took one round at Karkland to get the badge.

Well, things to consider:

1) What kit do you play more of?
2) What is your fighting style like? (Spray and pray or one shot at a time)
3) Do you try to engage more than 1 person at a time or usually just 1vs1 battles?

My opinion:

Download the demo. Edit the unlocks.py to allow all unlocks in singleplayer. Test them. Choose which YOU like the best. Case settled.

DAO > Jackhammer

you can shoot it just as fast if you got real fingers. You have double the clip. And it does about the same damage. AT rocket to back you up against any vehicle. Pistol > than any rifle at range.

Hell AT class is the greatest, no doubt, cannot sway my opinion. but like others haave said.

dao pwns the jackhammer so much .... but if ya want a shottie with engineer abilities then of course u have to go witht he jackhammer...which i personnaly hate

I Disagree...i Have the DAO as my unlock and i agree that it is a nice unlock...(anything being better than the horrid mp5 ) I have played with the jackhammer and and much happier with the way it fires...its recoil is less...and it is more powerful per shell...its reload time is also less... the DAO can be reloaded shell by shell wasting less ammunition,but with supply crates and support classes abundant that isnt much of a problem... While the DAO can be reloaded shell per shell you CANT fire mid reload...which is complete BS overall id say to go with the jackhammer...

definately DAO, i play it in the demo all the time, 10x better than jackhammer and kicks in close range

Jackhammer Vs Dao 12

I have unlocked the jackhammer. because i love being the engineer. I find the jackhammer to be very usefull when fighting 2 or 3 guyz who are near each other. The way they try and run when you get the drop on them is hilarious.
By far the jackhammer is the greatest . Once you master the ways of hide and reload you should be good to go . * WARNING * if you cannot play engineer you better not unlock this weapon . Engineer is the most difficult class you can choose so unlock this weapon after being sure that u are a good engineer , That means knowing how to place mines and when to remove them.

I've unlocked the DAO. Because i enjoy Anti Tanking. And on maps that are small, especially those city style maps, its ownage. Many many times, i have killed 4 people without reloading. And shootiing 2 guys standing near each other is easy too. It has a huge spray. I've tried the Jackhammer. Its nice, has a bit more range, but....for some reason, it just doesnt give that, "I AM MAN, HEAR ME ROAR" effect the DAO has. I think you should go for the DAO. Again, if you like the smaller type maps, you will not be dissapointed. You can get some serious kill streaks with that gun. And by not being a hiding, weasel either. By being right there, in the thick. Right where all the fun is.

I would go with the DAO. When I first started playing the game, I played all classes. But when I unlocked my DAO, I stopped playing everything else. Anti-tank is the only class that I play. I think the gun rocks. Yeah the reload and the range suck, but the power and speed are great. There has been many times that I've charged 2 or 3 people head one and dropped them all. And they were all charging me too. I think anti-tank is the best class. Only thing more I would want would be 'nades for the the class, but you can't have everything.

I unlocked the jackhammer its good for small maps where you can go right behind people and just pump lead into thier backside :)
