A 4000 is one of the most powerful processors out there, and you're pairing it up w/ the most powerful GPU out there. It balances itself out.

No, but then get 1-2 GB of memory and a GOOD sound card, I cannot stress that enough. Alot of people build uber systems, and throw a crappy sound card in there.

well the most performance loss you get from using a crappy sound card is around 5-10 fps. just make sure the sound card you get has a processor so it doesnt borrow from your cpu.

I'm getting the Creative Labs SB Audigy-2 ZS 7.1. Does that come with a processor built in?

I'm pairing that along with the Logitech X-530. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...121-118&depa=1

Would you recommend otehr speakers for around the same price?

              Thanks for your help guys.

Edit: Actually I think I'm going to go with the Logitech Z-2300. It got great reviews and it's in my price range. What do you think?

                  see my specs below,
my cpu is equivilent of 1 ghz slower and im playing on 64 player servers seamlessly with max settings and 8AA and 8AF, altho it does get a bit jumpy with max AA (8sx) and AF (16x) but thats probibly down to my cpu (overclock here i come )
unless you do something really stupid like match those to 512mb pc-2100 or something, your ok ;P

(EDIT) Also i have onboard sound on my mobo, not sure what it is, but its some 8.1 effort (gigabyte sound??) i also have this set to max quality..dont seem to slow it down :S
of course its maybe taking 5-10 fps off me but i dont notice it

Your processor doesn't matter in BF2 as long as your have a good graphics card to run it on.

All these processors run the same FPS, from the 3000+ to the FX-57.

Ok, thank you very much guys. Now, all I need is the money .. :\

Anyone recommend any speakers in the $100 range?

Edit: This is my future compy:

-Athlon 4000+ OR 3800+ (I'm deciding between the two, the 3800+ only suffers about 2 frames)
-7800 GTX (I'm waiting until ATI reveals its card though. I need to see which one will be better)
                      -2 GB of Corsair RAM
                      -160 GB HD
                      -Audigy 2 ZS

                      I simply cannot wait.

Edit 2: What kind of power supply do you recommend? A 500 or 550? Thanks.

I have the same sound card and speakers. I'm running an AMD 64 4000+, ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, MSI 6600GT, OCZ 2Gb ram, and some other goodies. I get around 60fps with High details on everything except Dynamic Lighting and Shadows and 2xAa. I'm normally into the game 30-60 seconds before everyone else.

I went with an adjustable OCZ 520watt PSU, for overclocking reasons.
