    BF2 Won't Start!

    Hi, my friend has

    ATI 9200 128mb Video Card
    512mb Ram
    2.5 Ghz Intel Processor

His computer could run BF2 fine (once he installed the latest Catalyst drivers) on the BF2 1.00. I recently told him to install 1.02. Now his game does not run, when he tries to open up the game its like when he tried to open up the BF2 Demo without his drivers updated (clicks on the shortcut/exe, does not open/run).

Edit: Sorry I guess I should of posted this in the Tech Sup. forums, oh well maybe some people can help me in general?

I'll have to ask him to make sure, it could very well be either, however I think it does a little bit of both, it goes black really quikly, (not black, and then hear screen flicker as if changing resolution, it just goes black for a bit and no screen flicker).

The 9200 isn't supported. However people said turing AGP down to 4x with everything on low/off, works.

Start > Control Panel > Appearence and Themes > Display > Advanced > Advanced > SmartGART > slide it down to 4x

        Restart the computer.

BF2 I believe checks if you have a completely compatible video card just after it changes resolutions. If not, it exits to the desktop (this happens in a matter of a couple seconds). I had a GeForce4 Ti 4200 and it didn't support Pixel Shader 1.4 (it had 1.3... but it met the requirements at everything else) and BF2 would just go full screen and exit to desktop.

So maybe that is whats happening. That is all I know.
