Well I guess the story behind it needs to be told. Newb is an affectionate way to describe someone who is new the community/game/whatever.

A noob, is a moron, who isn't nesicarrily new, but just dumb and doesn't have a brain.

PS. Only a noob would make a poll like the one you just made. What a waste of forum space.

didnt you know? everyone on the internet is a 'keyboard tough guy'

when in reality, if you were face to face theyd probably cry like a babyif
        you confronted them..

personally, I never use the terms noob, owned, pwned, etc etc etc..
everytime I see those, it reminds of me grade school..

        :)

Ok so how do you tell the difference between a Newb and a Noob across a Mic? Lol probably by whether it has the F word before or after the term? As for the other terms PWNED and OWNED, I'm guessing owned is getting your butt whooped by a specific person and pawned... hmmm.. sacrificing yourself to save your team? WOW look at that I'm a Newb to the Noob and Newb terms

I must be getting old. I was calling people newbies (noobs) since back in the days when I would dial into my local BBS and play Majormud back in oh, 1992-93ish. (I might add, the FIRST online roleplaying games were muds, and they still rock)

Youngins.. Don't even know where your lingo came from. Newbie.

n00b is leet speek for newbie... and newbie is a corruption of the term "new boy" which was predominantly used before by higher level students in military schools as a term to taunt neophytes.

If someone calls you a noob, call them a noob back. They will get very angry about that, and call you a stupid noob for calling them a noob. Probably with a few "LOL"'s and "11!!!11!one" to emphasise. Once again, call them a noob.

As this goes on, you will see the noober increasingly agitated with the noobee's stubborn replys. Watch as they begin to loose it and implode.

hehe, the americas army forums have filter, which filters out noob (as well as hacker and other "offensive" words) to Inexperienced Player
