Top 5 reasons to get to Windows XP Professional x64 Edition:

        Reason #2:
        Large memory support

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition supports up to 128 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and 16 terabytes of virtual memory, enabling applications to run faster when working with large data sets. Applications can preload substantially more data into virtual memory, allowing rapid access by the 64-bit processor.
But XP supports 4GB too, but not sure if there are some motherboards or bios that have trouble with it.

The only thing holding me back from using x64 is the availability of a good software firewall, I don't like the Tiny Firewall, waiting for a firewall like Sygate or similar.

Plus there are no drivers/software for my Nostromo Speedpad n52

x64 can run in compatability mode, but things like drivers and antivirus have to be written for 64 bit code, as it has to have core accees to the OS.

So in short NO, you can't use the same drivers you are now, you have to get 64 bit versions of them.

You get the drivers the same place where you always get them.

If you e.g. need ATI drivers you download the x64 drivers and not the 32-bit same goes for all hardware devices.

Just check you hardware before you install it, such vital components like chipset, video, audio, raid controller etc.

You don't have to do anything to your mobo, other than having latest BIOS, but that goes for regular XP too.

Lol, tried it and you better off with win xp 32, bf2 is a 32 bit application!!! You're slowing your rig!

                  Cheers

I tried searching newegg for these items:

                        Dual PCI Exhaust fan
Ultra Fire Copper Heat pipe CPU Cooling Fan

And couldn't find them. Do you mind linking me?

To try and answer in reverse order:

                          The cooling Products:
Dual Pci Fan The CPU Cooler Its a big ass copper heatsink and two 80mms

XP does not support 4 gig. As XP is NT based M$ used the old PAE 3GB switch you can HAVE 4 but it will only see 3.

Everything apart from BF2 is 64bit so The performance gain is HUGE. However, I am running BF2 with all bells and whistles turned on, and still have no issues.

The Rig is in and around $1800 and change. There is about $1000 in the Mobo and RAM Try shopping around. DUDE I DIDN"T GET A DELL

I found all my dlls by going to the vendors, there is some sort of campaign telling us there are no 64bit dlls well I had no Issues.

The only thing to rember is XP ran 16 bit WOW and XP64 runs 32 bit WOW so if for some god unknown reason you have 16 bits appz they will not be supported. 32 or 64

Is there anything in your set-up that is not needed? Like all the fans and the coolers, and network adapters and such? I'd like to see how much it would cost to build a PC, but i dont know exactly what i need. (besides mobo/ram/HD/powersupply)

                            Thanks for that link, BTW.
