Parachuting

Maybe this question has come by several times but I couldn't find it.

Is it normal that when you jump out of a helicopter or whatever, it takes a second or 2 before the parachute actually comes out?

I ask this because I see people jump off lower rooftops and manage it to use their parachutes, while I await a quick death because my chute isn't out on time

Sometimes there's a bit of lag before your 'chute opens, it's a pain.

Thats what I do and always works.

It does take two or 3 secs for it to open but it's not a lagg issue for me.
of smaller roofs you can't deploy it so you need to find a medic to heal you etc ...
