Well i guess EA has decided that people who own an Alienware 7700 laptop can't play Battlefield 2 for more than oh say 5 minutes.i know this is a bad thread but w.e.there's nowhere else i can go.EA wont release a patch just for alienware users.and the game isnt going to fix itself.any ideas?i just get random hard shutdowns.no warnings.im pretty sure it has to do with either the video card not being compatible with the game,or an overheating issue.

I am sure someone will be able to help you- just be patient. All I know is to update your video card drivers. You have very good specs and I don't know why it wouldn't work. Hopefully someone else will come along who has better knowledge of laptops.Comment

I've already updated every driver for every component oin my system.im even running the modded latest driver for trthe desktop nvidia cards.this has been like this since the game came out.i doubt it will ever get fixed.Comment

With the 'shutting downs' - I suspect overheating. Laptops are already the underdog on ventilation anyways and as stressful as BF2 is on my desktop video card I can only imagine how it would be on your video card.
I recommend a laptop cooler (its just a platform with some fans that sits under your laptop - it can help a little or a lot). Beyond that..make sure the area around your laptop is clear and that all exhaust fans are clear.

i got an alienware lappy and man oh man does it suck arse. first of all the lappy is horrible, 3.0 P4 and its a peice of S*** ive had to send it back so much Alienware has had it longer than i have. lol now it just sits on my desk for the decor.Comment

yes,i've tried reinstalling the game,still doesn work.i've also updated DirectX to the latest.the laptop isnt a piece of s.h.i.t.-my system is very nice.runs perfectly with everything except battlefield 2.it ran Doom3,HL2,BFV,everything perfectly.i got BF2 and the problems started appearing.If i'm lucky,i can play 800x600 res.all settings at low.AA and AF off.shadows and light off.and view distance at 75.thats the most i can do for unlimited gameplay.i SHOULD be able to play on high.i know this for a fact.Comment

My neighbor plays on his 7700, and BF2 runs just fine. I suspect its not the game, but a hardware issue.Comment

Alienware isn't exactly the best at shipping their computers in perfect condition. I've heard of missing parts, etc. I was thinking about buying an Alienware laptop in a year for college, but I'm rethinking.Comment

hummm are you trying to run the game using a dual monitor configuration? if you are i would suggest disableing the secound monitor before you run the game.Comment
