Yes they should. People died bravely for these medals and gamers talk like they "earned" them by having stats in a video game.

yes i agree sumwat..i think those medals should still b in the game tho b/c it makes it more realistic......more likely take out the purple heart(it is so ez to get.real soldiers didnt get it by have a 1:4 kdr)

Well everyone works in real life for all of these medals/ribbons/badges harder than anyone who receives them in the game will (barring you are a member of the armed forces that plays the game hehe).

Just remember this is a game and the only thing that these medals and such represent ingame are hours of time infront of the screen, and some gaming skill....nothing more.

Ya have to admit,
that it was smart for EA to put the medals into the game. And the ranking system for that matter.

It was a clever way to get people to play more in the hopes of being awarded a metal or advancing in rank.

In a way, it helps make some people more of a team player, cuz now people are just dieing to give you health packs or ammo, etc.

The Congressional Medal of Honor is issued to soldiers who go above and beyond the call of duty and willingly risk their lives in order to save the lived of fellow servicemen. You can't do that in a game...

I have to say I am a little ambivalent about the use of the medals in the game. Proficiency ribbons and other awards that are non-heroic IRL are one thing, but including the valor medals troubles me. I am definitely glad that the Medal of Honor isn't included.

BTW, I definitely find it offensive that they made a joke of the Purple Heart.

I know... If you read, I was defending it NOT being included... And the Purple Heart shouldn't either. These medals are awarded to REAL soldiers who risk thie REAL lives, not some pixelated cyberdude who dosn't even exist...

I don't know of any Medal of Honor recipients who were alive when they were awarded it. So if you were to get it in the game you would have to stop playing! As for taking the purple heart out, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Purple Hearts are given out like candy now days. I think almost everyone inside Cobar Towers when it was bombed in 1996 was awarded the Purple Heart. Most of the guys who got it were just scratched by glass or whatever. A lot of those guys won't even wear their Purple Heart because they either feel they don't deserve it (wich they don't) or because they get picked on so much when they do wear it.

Nice find!! Damn I spent a good time reading some of the people who did get the Medal of Honor. Did anyone read the one from Iraq? Seems like the thats the most recent recipient

Wow. Guys, it's a game. It's not like when you get a medal, they ship it to you or something. It's a little graphic, on a little website, or on a screen in the game. True, the people who wreally have the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, yes they're true heros. But give me a break, I mean, if that's the case, they should take out the rankings as well, I didn't fight in any battles or risk my life for the promotion.

I salute our soliders, and am very greatful for what they do, but it's a GAME.

Now for the reason they didn't put it in, there is no way in a persons lifetime, even if they started playing at the age of 11, that a single person could meet the qualification for it. It would be like 2,500,500 hours played, etc. I don't think the medals are out of line, however for the veteran and the expert badges - there's WAY to many hours needed.
