    Instant lock on

Lately i've seen people locking their missiles instantly onto their target. They somehow skip that first sound and goes directly onto the second which informs you now can fire. I've seen airplanes, mobile and stationary anti air units doing this.

What's the trick? How do they do it? :)

actually, they dont really do it intentionnaly (i think). how they do it is that they fire a missile at a target, but it misses, so it aims the closest heat source, in these cases, you. they can also try to just shot a missile in your direction, but its really unlikely, since you have to be out of theyre locking range yet visible enough.

It is just where a missle miss the targer and locks on to something else if that something else is a plne it has no chance of hitting it but i have got some lucky kills on choppers

the stupid thing is if you fly straight and fire it won't go towards the plane in front you have to lock on, but it will fly straight towards your own teams chopper <_<

It's a heat-seeking missile, it doesn't need a lock to seek. Basically if you see an aircraft and they are flying straight, shoot the missiles when you first target them. If there are no other heat sources nearby, it will follow the aircraft.

The downside is friendly aircraft always seem to have 100x the heat source an enemy does.

You can't lock on to friendlies, the missile can though, since its neutral.
