limited viewing distance

i have viewing distance set at 100% yet i still cant see troops/vehicles unless i get within a certain distance to them
this is very frustrating especially when im in a heli and i dont see targets until its too late

Well, the rendering is 100% of the distance that the game allows, not much you can do.

View Distance Scale just affects the environment you see (fog gets thicker/can see less ground and buildings).

If you have Geometry in your video settings on low, try setting it to Medium or High. Geometry affects LOD range, so a higher geometry will draw soldiers and vehicles at a further distance.

At low, you will only see soldiers at 80m, at medium, about 140, and at High, 250.
