this looks very promising. i cant wait till it comes out, but end of august thats a long time. but what really grabs my attention is the "Teamkilling changes – the logic of how teamkills are tracked will be changed. "

I'm sure they won't let you drop supply boxes to fix commander stuff any more. Probably one of the 140+ fixes.Originally posted by Lu0s3r322BUT I SEE A PROBLEM! It says that points will be given to people who destroy commander assets, i sense point whoring because good commanders will drop supplies and arty, radar, uav will be fixed and player will get more c4 from supply and keep on blowing up. i will be a problem if a destroy is 3-4 points, otherwise if its 1-2 it'll be fine.
I hope they make it where everybody in the vehicle doesn't get points when one person gets a kill or when they get a resupply/heal/repair (only the pilot and the person who got the kill should get credit). I also hope they don't let you repair it from inside of it. The way its set up right now, you can just get in the blackhawk with a full crew, go away for a while and come back and its possible to have like 50 points. You should actually have to do stuff to get points, IMO.Originally posted by penguinoI think the blackhawk will be weaker because it takes 3 missles to kill it. I think they will make it 1 or 2 missles and i think there flares wont reloadComment

Here is the original:

Hi everyone, and thanks for supporting BF2. Thanks to all of you out there, BF2 has seen great success around the world and we’d like to thank you all for that.
Since its launch, we’ve tried to give BF2 all the support it deserves by releasing patches with the fixes and improvements you’ve asked for. Unfortunately, we haven’t lived up to the standards we’ve set for ourselves and we know that. So all of us at EA and DICE are working extra hard to make sure that the BF2 experience improves dramatically in the coming weeks.
Towards the end of August, we will be releasing a new patch, 1.03. This patch is currently underway and will undergo thorough testing before it goes out to avoid the problems that have occurred in the past. There are over 140 fixes and improvements in this patch. Here are just a few of them:
Server and Client performance improvements
Improved Server Browser – added Favorites and History Lists.
Point-farming prevention - game will stop Support/Medic/Engineer point farming exploits.
Squads - locked squad leader will get a message if someone wants to join.
Many HUD improvements - see the names of others in your vehicle, zoom level changing depending on vehicle, map zoom depending on map setup (16, 32 or 64 player map) etc.
Teamkilling changes – the logic of how teamkills are tracked will be changed.
Gameplay tweaks - the way transport helicopters work will be tweaked.
Additional scoring changes - players who destroy an enemy commander's assets will be given points.
There are many, many more fixes that will be included in the patch but we’re looking forward to everyone moving to 1.03 to get the best BF2 experience out there on a level, cheat-free playing field.
We also know that there is still an issue with availability of slots on Ranked Servers. We’re all delighted that this new feature has been so popular, but we know that many of you are finding it hard to get onto a ranked server, especially at peak times. We are taking big steps and investing heavily to ensure that everyone can experience this side of BF2. New official servers have gone up in Europe and the US this week and you will see many more going up in the coming weeks. Our vision is to make sure you never have to wait to get onto a ranked server so you can enjoy the game at its best, and we will work to make that happen.
Thanks for being such fans of BF2. We’ve been listening to you and we’re determined to make BF2 the best online shooter experience out there. We hope you like the changes that are coming.Comment

You just can't do that much point whoring blowing up enemy commander stuff, without somebody on the other team trying to help you---and I'm talking about more than just enemy supply drops.
They'd have to make the points 5-6 per item to even make a difference... and soon as it does make a difference, there'll be multiple specops fighting over the points.Comment

I'm of two minds on blackhawk tweaking. It used to bug the crap out of me, but since I stopped playing on maps without jets and/or attack copters, I LIKE the bh whores.
I just make sure I'm on the other team and then blow them out of the sky over and over again. I love tv missiles. I LOVE bodies raining from the blackhawk.Comment

Glad to see that they're acknowleging their mistakes and actually putting some time into testing this. However, the dark, insatiable part of me is screaming "Release it NOW! I don't care if its bugged or not! I NEED it!" I'm really looking forward to see how this turn out and what it does to the game.Comment

Maybe, to prevent point whoring, maybe engis/supply crates can't repair the equimpent for a small period of time 10 secs possibly more or less? plus this would also enhace the aspect of having to protect your arty etc.?
Plus It annoying when my squads just risked its ass to walk into the enemy spawn blow up the arty/UAV/Radar, get into a vechile to bug out go up the road and its all been fixed, a pointless expedition !Comment

Finaly, Spec Ops will get points for doing their jobs, just like Medics healing people,
Support providing ammos, Engineer repairing stuff etc ... Very Good News !!!
I always play Spec Ops ... but I think I'll want my stats reset after that patch since
It won't be fair for new players that will get points for that immediately over us blowing
stuff since along time for free ...Comment

Cheers to that, Spec. Ops is my fav. character too. It really never bothered me much that I never got points for risking my ass. Points will be great though :) I'm already thinking of plans of destroying the enemy base.Originally posted by ZuckoFinaly, Spec Ops will get points for doing their jobs, just like Medics healing people,

Re: Patch V1.03
i bet their point farming prevention technique is gonna suck... just like 3 accidental TK's when youre piloting a blackhawk gets you kicked or banned. With the new farming prevention i bet its gonnna work as such: When you are in a battle and revive more than 3 people in the game you are considered a stat padder and are immediately banned from the server or have your stats stripped from you.Comment
