Not to be unproductive here, but Audigy 2's are pretty darn cheap right now. There really aren't many non-CL(Creative Labs) cards that are worthwhile. Also, I think EAX is a CL only enhancement anyways. I could be wrong though. Check out tigerdirect or newegg for good prices on sound cards.

I know that feeling..I've had nothing but problems with ATI graphics cards, so I only use Nvidia, but in the arena of sound cards, you're a little bit limited. I think Turtle Beach is the only other major audio card distributor and I've heard negative things...get an Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS, they're very good cards.

I've got the nForce 2 soundstorm as well. Sounds great when tapping the digital output.

I'm currently waiting for more information on the X-Fi series of cards, hope they are wallet-friendly.

                    Turtle Beach Montego

I currently have an older Turtle Beach Santa Cruz but this is the card I will be replacing it with in the near future. The Montego supports EAX2 apparently which BF2 requires to use as hardware instead of software.

anything with an envy24ht and good drivers is fine. I've got a nf4 mobo that has it built in, hardware audio works, as does EAX.

I think your only options are really the Turtle Beach, Creative, and onboard. Im currently using onboard VIA 5.1 and it has massive issues with BF2, I have to turn it to low otherwise itll freeze intermitently. My Audity 2zs should arive today though. If you decide ultimately to get the 2/zs read this to optimize it for BF2: http://forums.totalbf2.com/showthread.php?t=8075

My Sennheiser 497s arive today as well. I cant wait! =)
