    Thoughts on the Medal Requirements

    Medal of Valour

    · 6000 Global Hours Played in Total

    · 50,000 Driver Ability Points (Driving around with people in your

    vehicle)

    · 10,000 Global Amount of Times defending a control point

    · 250,000 Global Teamwork Score
judging from that its impossible for someone to attain that medal in a whole year. (im just guessing so someone correct me if im wrong)

Almost ALL the other medals are like that. they require INSANE amounts of time commitment which i think is just...well...insane.

anyways what im thinking is that EA plans to make a Battlefield Franchise with YOU the player having a SINGLE global account.
say in 3-4 years battlefield 3 comes out.
you can A.) make a new account or B.) continue with your BF 2 account (all stats/awards/etc saved)
rinse and repeat till EA goes bankrupt.

thats one LOGICAL reason i can think of on why EA made those medals insanely hard to get.

anyone else want to take a guess as to why EA decided those insane medal requirements?

you know I really thought that they just think someone will play that long, but your idea makes a lot of sense

If they were too easy to get we could all get them now and just have nothing left to try and get. It's to keep people playing.

How hard do you think a Medal of valour will be to get in real life?

EA are future proofing the game. This game will still be going stong for 3 Years Plus. Looking at the top50 playerss almost all are above 30000 points. after one month.

        30,000 x 11 = 330,000 points and considering Sergeant Major only requiires 250,000....

As for that medal sumit like 17 hours a day for 365 days which is still 5 hours a day over 3 years

          these threads crack me up....

I do agree though, that it would only make sense that our accts. would carry over to the next BF game...

Seriously though, would you prefer the requirements be met in 3-6 months, and then we can all run around with all the freaking medals? Wonder what that'd do for any conversations regarding medals/ribbons/etc..

I've played FPS's for many years.....still fire up UT99 once in a while, CS 1.6, and a couple older games. My point - people play games for several years, I play a 6yr old tactical fps game competitively and have over 300 wars with it, and still play it to this day.

If it takes 2-3 years to get a medal, then great! I think the requirements seem just fine... So, be patient and get what you can now....it is a game that you're supposed to be having fun playing - not just worrying about your medal case.

I see your point to create longevity in a game, but seriously some of the targets for medals are over the top to say the aleast. For your average gamer, having a family and work commitments etc etc, 2/3 hours a night is a still alot of time to commit if not sometimes impossible, especially if they expect it to last 2/3 years.........technology is racing ahead at the moment with it gfx and processors are changing rapidly. I think most games these days come with too many unlocks and medals etc etc, when on the whole your average game lasts about 4-6months then you start looking for fresh new games to play, even if you still revert back to it.

i see the point with longevity of the game as well, but who in their right mind will play 6000 global hours? thats 2/3 of a year ffs. there's no way that can be correct. i hope it isnt anyway...lol

At least now when you see someone carry a Medal of Valor, you stare wide-eyed and shake your head in disbelief. Just the way it should be.

The way I see it is that they will open up more of the rank factor when the times come (Probably in some expansion). Spec Ops expansion has already been confirmed so I would suspect we'll see more over the coming years.

Franchise for sure. There cant be any other idea they had for these ridiculous requirements. Should be funny in years when they screw it all up and everyone resets back to 0 after years of playing. EA will be like Steam. CRAP!!

I wish you could change your name though. They should let you change it like once a month if you wanted too.

Me, personally the only thing I care about is trying to be one of the top three players in the round and my win/loss. Other than that I can care less.. To me it's just an online game if it had been a single player I would care more.. Just letting you know so if you see me online I'm going to be capturing flags and defending once I get em.. : )
