    Stuttering Sound

This is a hard one to search for, as "stuttering" brings in all the lag issues.

I've just installed an SB Live 24 on my new rig, as I couldn't get the onboard sound to work (thanks for the support, Asus, btw - NOT). Now I get lots of distortion as the game loads, and ridiculous stuttering once I'm online.

I've tried all the different settings as to hardware/software and sound quality. I've also changed hardware acceleration via settings|sound.

    Music/dvd's are not a problem.

I tried to adjust my pci latency, but adjustments don't appear to be supported by my board - I get N/A next to each figure using the tool. I'm not sure that that works for PCIe, in any event. My 6800GT's latency is 0 and my sound card is 32 anyway.

    Any ideas??

The SB! 24 is not supported for hardware in this game. You will have to use software. Plus by the looks of it you got a nice system, why throw a peice of **** sound card in there? Get a SB Audigy 2 ZS.

That's what I'm starting to think I'll have to do.

I have one and it is an excellent card. Many people overlook the importance of a good sound card. Just like a video card, it takes stress off of the system's resources, and most people would never buy a RAGE card or ATI 8000, now would they?

My Turtle Beach Santa Cruz gets stuttering when I turn it to hardware. It is fine if I turn it to software. Somebody at one time told me that Battlefield 2 does not support EAX1 so an EAX2 card is needed.

I am also getting stuttering in World of Warcraft occasionally. This stuttering only happens in BF2 and WoW so maybe it has something to do with the newer DX9.0c games that have come out recently?

Well, I'm not sure about that, I know for a fact there is a huge issue with BF2 though. I can't run my Audigy2 ZS on any setting expect low without getting a frame drop. Supposedly there is a fix to this, however it did not work for me. I hope that v1.03 (or whatever they deam their next patch) will fix this issue.

                  start... run dxdiag
                  go to sound tab
lower down the acceleration to BASIC .. try if that works
