Have you checked your firewall settings?
If it is disabled try enabling and reconfigure it, as it might be active in the background even if disabled, and thus can be blocking. Try manually adding Bf2.exe to the allowed application and if it is there delete it and add it again.
Try editing the shortcut for BF2 from +fullscreen 1 to +fullscreen 0 and it runs in a windows and you can tell if there are any firewall pop-ups or similar. maybe also check that if you have a 3rd party firewall that the built-in XP is disabled. It is in the advanced tab of the properties for your connections. -
Thanks for the reply... strange thing is, 2 days ago, I was playing fine without doing any firewall changes or anything like that... heck, I can't even get into any of the Gamespy sites, (i.e. planetbattlefield). In any event, I checked everything you indicated and all the settings are set the way you described..
Every other site and game that uses an internet connection runs fine except BF2 because it is trying to connect to Gamespy, I guess... perhaps something happened to my account?
Very frustrating as I cannot play this game all because of this whole "account" thing.Comment

Hmm this is odd. I would see if the EA support forums have anything simular to this. The only thing I would think is a firewall/router would cause this. Perhaps and ISP filter? I doubt that though. It has to be something with the router though if it doesn't happen when you disconnect it....
Double check your settings see if anything looks out of place. Most routers have a "Game mode" which will allow huge packet flow through it when needed.Comment

Nothing wrong with my connection. I was able to get to every other site except anything relating to gamespy (planetbattlefield, gamespyarcade.com) so it's def not my router. CD key worked fine this morning. Gamespy must have been filtering some stuff for the past two days and now they aren't. Maybe they didn't let through NAT traversals....I JUST DON'T F'ING KNOW.Comment
