I agree. Also applying them through card settings puts it on everything and can cause windows to look weird :-S. Plus in all honesty, it won't do much.

Also have you tried using the Catylst Control Center? It is packaged with some versions of the ATI drivers, and you can create a custom profile per each game. So when you load the game it will switch to those settings (or perhaps you do it manually before hand, not sure, never used it).
