Seeing as how EA can keep track of virtually every minute stat in the game, why not keep track of how often someone punishes other players for TK's? Then, let's say you TK someone...
    The screen would say:
You have been teamkilled by {PITA}TKPunisherBaby
Vote Yes to Forgive, No to Punish
    {PITA}TKPunisherBaby forgives 89% of teamkills.

Then you very well might think, "ya know, this guy forgives a lot, so i'll be nice too", but if the guy has like a 30% forgive rate, then you say aww f' it and punish since the guy himself is a jackass.

Also, the guilty until proven innocent thing(no response is punish) needs to be reversed.

      2) Make vehicle movement less sensitive to hurt friendlies a.k.a no poison-touch jeeps

      3) Punish for running over a mine only if the vehicle is traveling at a low velocity (you still want to punish teamates who purposely set mines in front of friendly vehicles) Vehicles at higher velocity that cruise over friendly mines simply result in a no more for the dork who ran them over.

      4) Get rid of the driver-gets-passenger tk crap.

      5) Commanders get a reduced negative score for tkin with artillery (let's say -1)
I think 1 and 5 can be done in the python files.

If EA/Dice really want to do some work though:

I think there should be an instant replay of how you died. Not enough to give away a sniper location, but just a quick third-person replay of you getting killed.

I was just playing AT, there was a friendly medic running toward me, and an enemy hummvee coming up behind him, about to run him over. I rocketed the humvee just before it hit him, but either the car slid into him or splash damage from the rocket killed him, and gave me a tk. I ran over, grabbed his kit, and revived him, and then he punished me. If he'd seen what just happened, would he have punished?

By the way, do you still get punished if the "victim" is revived?

Why do people have such a hard time on the TKs? I have maybe tked 20 times. It isn't that hard to not tk.

Yeah that's true, I don't play bomber much or lay 'splosives around, but it kinda hurts when you try to save someone and get f--ked for it.

Iv'e found it very easy to accidently TK, and with the bug that makes teamates show as RED or Enemies Blue this just adds to it! EX 1) A couple days ago I got in the server in time for the start of a round( oil Fileds I think) spawned and hopped into the mobile AA sittin there. Soon I'm gettin Missile LOCK ON an ENEMY, (I know it was an enemy because there was no X over the reticle), so I launch a couple missles. I can't tell if they hit, he flew outta site, then back in, so I launch 2 more. Next thing I know I'm -8 within the first 2 minutes of the round!! What usually happens is that the aircraft launches countermeasure to confuse the missle lock and the missles track something else. Most skilled pilots realize how it works and wont punish, but noobs and boobs always do! EX 2) A guy wants a ride in your jeep and runs in front of you, you try to stop , but can't in time and, of course he punishes you!! In all reality it's totally HIS fault for being such a noob as to run in front of a speeding vehichle without the common sense to hold the "E" key! I forgive 99% of my TK's, as I realize it's war and **** happens. I want friendly fire on too, because its also part of war. I usually play support and that weapon is very inaccurate, and last night in heated fighting over a flag, I saw 3 guys running up behind a friendly, they were drawing a bead on him, and there was NO way he was gonna live as he was running towards me. I did my best to try and shoot around him to kill them and save his life, and mine as I was next in line, but it just wasn't meant to be! I apoligized and knew I would get punished, but didn't mind, because I made a choice to shoot at them when I knew I would prolly hit him, but it had to be done for the good of the team, and to try and keep posession of the flag. My point is it's very easy to rack up several TK's in a night of playing, and I would just like the noobs and boobs to at least give it a seconds thought before they PUNISH!

Try looking at your map for friendlies before spamming nades.

They need to reduce the amount of points an actual tk takes away from your score.

-4 for a forgiven teamkill in itself is double that of bf42, and -6 for a punished teamkill is even higher.

-2 for a forgiven teamkill and -3 for a punished teamkill seems much better.

Is it me, or is the tk logic for friendly ramming incidents majorly effed up?

Bumped sides with a fully loaded blackhawk during a big furball behind the dam, and of course it decided to give me all of the tks for a full blackhawk. And of course all those blackhawk whorebags punished. needless to say, I was immediately kickbanned by the server. Once again, my gaming ended by something retarded in the game, instead of me deciding to actually disconnect.

I hope they address that crap in the next patch.

you must be hacking because my minimap doesnt tell me if some suicidal moron is going to rush the enemy flag w/ 5 enemies around it half a second after i throw some nades.

It's always nice to start playing when you have like -18 TK's just for leaving airfield.... Punish system is a tool of the devil

they should take off the forgive/punish thing.
they should base it on the score -20 or more = kicked from server. (just put some reasonable number)

I agree the TK system needs a huge revamp.

Mostly to eliminate random unavoidable TK's and the TK exploiters.

Apex, where ya at? I'm in Gilbert (AZ)...

Quick question for the folks suggesting to change settings..

Our clan (www.clanultimatum.com) runs a Ranked BF2 server and I know that we can't change certain settings...

Can ranked servers do anything other than wait for EA to issue a fix/patch?
