A thought on the TK system

Here's what they need to do:
1) reverse the defaults for puinsh to "no" and increase the time you have to choose to not forgive.
2) Make vehicle movement less sensitive to hurt friendlies a.k.a no poison-touch jeeps
3) Punish for running over a mine only if the vehicle is traveling at a low velocity (you still want to punish teamates who purposely set mines in front of friendly vehicles) Vehicles at higher velocity that cruise over friendly mines simply result in a no more for the dork who ran them over.
4) Get rid of the driver-gets-passenger tk crap.
5) Commanders get a reduced negative score for tkin with artillery (let's say -1)Comment

Thats not a bad idea.Originally posted by GSN42i think the punish system just needs to be taken out... i've played on servers that still had team damage, but when you TKed you wouldn't get negative score... no one abused it and no one complained, in fact people thought it was cool... an even better time was when the server turned off friendly fire entirely... do you have any idea how much fun it is to get blown sky high by C4 and then parachute back down?
imo, negative score needs to be taken out, it won't stop anyone from doing it, so why slap them on the wrist when you can give a 3 strikes and you're out sort of systemComment

I think that's a great idea, making punish more difficult will probably resolve most of the complaints with this system.Originally posted by ThunderdomeAlot of companies will purposely make it difficult to find contact information for customer service phone calls. It costs alot of money to have a giant customer service call center, and they want to do anything they can to cut down on the number of phone calls where the customer could of figured out the problem on their own if they just took 5 minutes to search the FAQ or something. Ebay/Paypal, who I used to work, for, is one example of a company who does this. The idea behind it was simply to cut down on mindless exploitation of a feature/service. My point is...if they made it a bit of a chore to punish someone for a TK(maybe having to bring down the console or select the player on the player list screen), then more people would probably forgive, as it wouldn't be worth their time and effort to punish every single TK. It could default to forgive unless the player went through the steps of punishing. Only the lamest of TKers would be punished.
There are dozens of other ways they could improve on this as well. With the plethora of stats that this game can keep track of, there's no reason it shouldn't be able to tell that the guy you just TKed ran over your mine like a moron, or sprinted into your artillery fire 5 seconds after you placed it, and shouldn't be allowed to punish in such situations. Someone knifing you repeatedly though could be auto-punished. You get the idea.Comment

I'm so fed up with the poison-touch vehicles it's ridiculous. Moving out of a base can be impossible cos you can TK even when crawling, i mean even like a jerk of the throtle from a standstill gets a TK, it's crazy. I say no TKs for vehicles unless they are doing a reasonable speed, lets face it 80% of children who get hit by cars doing 30MPH survive so what are the chances of a burly soldier covered in Kevlar at 10MPH? A lot higher I would imagine. TK should be on a sliding scale, if they're running away or stood still maximum punish, if they're running across minimum punish, if they're running towards no punish.
Also the TK for people leaving a flying vehicle should be removed, I try to avoid letting people in my plane or helicopter because of this, something which goes strongly against EAs vision of enhanced teamplay. Quite why it's my fault if someone decides to jump is beyond me. No TK's whilst TKer and TKee are in the air.
The TK system definatly needs sorting out, after the crappy browser (which is still buggy) it's the worst thing about BF2.Comment
