actually if you notice on the patch there are some lines under it.. those are words reading "Peace through superior firepower"

The peace signs on your gear won't fly in America's military today. Those guy's in 'Nam got away with it because they were forced into military service and sent to the jungle not knowing if they'd ever make it out alive from a war they didn't neccissarily support. It was a statement of the times back then, not something you would ever see now. God help them if one of my troops shows up to duty with a dam peace symbol on their uniform!
