Sorry I don't know all the above information, I'm at work not by my computer making this post. Will update when I get home
After a while of playing I notice that random areas of the map will turn black (mountain was the first I noticed). Shape is still there, but absolutely no texture to it, just a flat black. Last night I was playing on Dragon Valley when all of a sudden the game like hesitated, then came back and my gun (M4A1) turned almost chrome like, and my pistol went a complete flat black like the mountain on Friday night. I figured no big deal I can live with that until the round is over.
Well I go to scope mode on the M4A1 and now all I get is a black screen (absolutely no graphics at all. All I can see is teammate name tags and flag positions).
Anybody know what could be causing this?
All my settings are on what are suggested on tweakingguides.com, and my computer is brand new so it isn't being overworked. Is this a bug in the game, or should I go back to the catalyst drivers?
Craig
I have X850XT and I got this this, I restarted my comp and the prob was resolved, has not come back!!
someone told me in-game it's a gltich that happens when something is done ( I can't remember) and you see black squares around.Comment

It's probably a stupid memory issue, hopefully a patch can provide better memory management, I'd hate to have to run textures on low just to play without this crap. For some reason when this happens, I can't even use ctrl-alt-del to see if my memory is getting used up. Weird.Comment

well I have a nvidia 5900fx and am having the exact same problems that you guys are having. Things I have tried are reinstall. Several different drivers, Nearly all settings and resolutions, manual uninstall of game and reinstall, have an ongoing battle with ea support and interestingly a guy said it was file corruption from ea. But they havent gone down that road yet. There most recent guess was for me to roll my drivers back from 77.6 to 71.89...wich fubared the hole system. As far as it being a heat issue...My albatron 5900fx has 3 fans(1 backup) and I have 2 case fans blowing cold air on it....the max temp it gets is about mid 60'sC. Anyways I am beginning to think that it doesnt have anything to do with vid cards because you ATI guys are having the exact same problems that I am.Comment

I think it is a memory thing, the 1.03 patch should fix it if they have any good memory managment tweaks left to use.Comment

yea, the same exact thing happened to me. Even with the gun getting "shiny"
i was forced to reinstall windows because i messed some file up (didnt have to do with the game, just being a noob with driver cleaner)
i reinstalled windows, chipset drivers, video card driver, bf2, bf2 patch update. Hasnt happened again.
im happy for now, but i will def be getting 2gb soonComment

I think its becuase he has diffenet graphic levels set like texture is med and the lighting is high.. becuase i did it once on another computer and it did that and i change to all the same and i had no pros from then on.Comment
