As soon as the do 1 shot kills everyone will cry
the m24 is incredibly accurate, and its accurate while walking around standing, etc, and theres really no 'settle-down' time, you can hit hte deck zoom and kill pretty much instantly. You just need to train yourself to only go for headshots.

That and get used to the pistols =P Theyre rediculously accurate, and after my stint with sniper I find myself using pistol on medic/etc for extra accuracy when Im not in a heated firefight.

Shots are, ironically, supposed to be more accurate on bolt-actions. There's less movement during firing (no blowback) thus improving accuracy. Part of the reason why bolt-actions are still used today.

Also, the M95 being in the bullpup configuration is smaller with the same barrel length. As for the semi-automatic firing or bolt-action, it's all in preference. Semi-automatic firing with a .50in BMG round takes quite a while to realign the scope with the target.

And for the love of God, leave the sniper damage as is. The bolt-action snipers are still used in some good quantity and if they'd make it one shot one kill they'd have even more advantage over SVD/Type-88 users, as these are far less accurate. We'd have a huge sniper whoring, and really, I wouldn't want that. I find snipers are good only for certain situations. As is any other class (minus assault, it's pretty much the 'all-rounder' class.

Plus, anyone who takes sniper fire and won't take decent cover or run like hell has got to be retarded. I've sniped many who just decide to lay on the floor, right where they are rather than look for cover away from the sniper's FOV.

Yes, but since this is a game it had to have been balanced. Thus bolt-action plus bad accuracy for the high damage.

That`s their way of looking at it, not mine...

Jep only good thing bout JO was the sniping. I`d love new sounds or smthing, like smthing loud but also sharp and quick. So I could feel that im really shooting a powerful sniper rifle not a BB gun. They should increase the damage BUT make it harder to aim so that u would need a little skill to hit some1 with it. Like make the sight move or smthing

The sniping in this game is far to inacurate and the M-95 is far to underpowered, but this is not a complaint since I love the sniping and the game. I would welcome a change though.

The M95 is not underpowered. If you get shot you'd lose 90% of your health, way more than the rest of the sniper rifles. It's the perfect clean up killer, and if you didn't get the kill, you'll get a kill damage assist, which still counts towards your global score.

in real life, under skilled hands, the M24 can get a grouping of a couple inches at 500 yards.

Also, i think the abilities of the sniper are confounded in this game to reduce the amount of players using this class. I think this is a good idea but its still lacking in the overall effectiveness department

Everybody complains about the snipers.. so I went on an 1.02 Unlocks server with my friend. It was on Mashtuur City, and our distance was about (near or exactly) 230 meters. I aimed directly on his upper torso, two shots and he was down. First shot he said, dropped him to 2 hp. Second shot finished him off. If there is so much of this bullet drop that you guys talk about, at this distance it would hit the ground before it reached him.

Yes, granting he was standing still, but it was simply a long range test. Any farther he would have disappeared out of my sights!

If you can master hitting at very long ranges, you can do this 20-30 times a round and, since it drops them to barely no health at all, you'll get a kill assist in a matter of no time.

If I'm sniping somebody at around 50 meters, I'll usually take one shot and immediately switch to my silenced pistol and finish them off in 2-3 shots.

I will be unlocking the M95 as soon as I reach Corporal - in only <1500 points. :)

maybe this will be fixed in the next patch - an up in sniper rifle damage...

Keep the sniper rifle damage as is. It would be nice if the scoped view would be "smoothed" out a bit. Also I wouldn't mind if all of the scopes would zoom in a bit more.

The BIGGEST thing that needs to be changed is how claymores affect teammates. I can hold my own sniping but I get so frustrated with my noob-ass teammates who can't seem to spot claymores. The only way I see to fix this problem is for claymores to not to hurt teammates.

BTW, I LOVE NOOBS! So many times I'll shoot someone (in the chest) and I'll see them run to and mount a Stinger or TOW site, (I guess they think it protects them from snipers) then its an easy headshot to take them out. Good fun.

Actually, it is... If you're comparing to the real life counterpart it's a disgrace heh.

A BMG .50 12.7mm ball is a 660 grain bullet, traveling at 2800 feet per second will rip you in two if you got hit in the hand. The energy from the shockwave of the bullet would likely disrupt your conciousness when passing within 10 inches of your body.

I believe there are 900+ grain rounds available to the military as well as well as many combinations of armor piercing incendiary effect rounds as well.

To quote This site which is giving lessons learned from our soldiers on the ground in Iraq:

According to Operation Iraqi Freedom PEO Soldier Lessons Learned [LTC Jim Smith 15 May 2003] "The Barrett 50 cal Sniper Rifle may have been the most useful piece of equipment for the urban fight – especially for our light fighters. The XM107 was used to engage both vehicular and personnel targets out to 1400 meters. Soldiers not only appreciated the range and accuracy but also the target effect. Leaders and scouts viewed the effect of the 50 cal round as a combat multiplier due to the psychological impact on other combatants that viewed the destruction of the target.

“My spotter positively identified a target at 1400 meters carrying an RPG on a water tower. I engaged the target. The top half of the torso fell forward out of the tower and the lower portion remained in the tower.” 325th PIR Sniper

"There were other personal anecdotes of one round destroying two targets and another of the target “disintegrating.”

                          Anyways

XM107 is the official designation of the M95/M82A1A rifle for the military.

Watch This Video if you want to see the rounds passing clear through 3" manhole covers, a 600 pound safe, etc.. Very intersting watch if you're into terminal ballistics..

Now tell me that unarmored targets should live through a hit anywhere on the body? Quite simply, EA should have never given us the gun if they had no intention of making it even remotely realistic.

Haha, its great when you get those kinda shots.

Also, I love support players. It just so happens that for them to get any kind of accuracy, then need to be prone and still.....aka a perfect chance for a headshot. The only downside is that I also play support along with sniper. Ah well...

Hes not. Its done the way it is for game balance. If there was a 1 shot kill infantry weapon everyone would be whoring it.
