i'm wondering if anyone is having this specific problem, i've read of people having trouble with the voip since the patch and i'm one of them. here's my issue, and if anyone has the same thing or can help i'm all ears.

my microphone is getting muted whenever in my sounds and audio device properties whenever i load the game. but not right at the start, whenever i go to the options in game and try to do a microphone test i get no response from my microphone in game, while if i test it outside of the game it works fine. I minimize the game, go to the volume properties and un-mute the mic but the game won't recognize it and still won't pick up the sounds comming from the mic.

I was using the onboard integrated sound card on my motherboard till this patch came out, and i figured that since my integrated sound card was crap that this was a problem with it. so i disabled it and set my usb headset as my only sound device and the game would mute that as well. i just put a creative 24-bit sound blaster live card in and the game manages to mute the mic on that when i load it up and try to test it in game. I'm stumped and quite frankly rather pissed off about this.

Anyone got any suggestions or having this problem as well? i'm all out of ideas and ways to troubleshoot this. Thanks

I have the same exact problem as you!!! And I'm rather pissed too. Seems like every time a new patch comes out you spend more time trying to get in the game or fix problems than playing!!! I have tried a hundred things and I got a suggestions today from a guy which claims the following which I will pass on to you, fixed his. In hopes it will help both of us????!!!!

1.Go to/Program Files/ EA Games/Battelfield 2/ directory, and run the BF2VoiceSetup.exe file, and follow the instructions on the application screen. When finished, click the save settings button and the relevant settings in the audio section will be adjusted accordingly.

Go into your BF2 audio controls. Disable the voip and hit apply. Enable the voip and hit apply. Try test again.

This worked for me.

The problem is 1.3. I have done all the fixes and I still have the problem. I can use my mic/headset in wind sound recorder but not BF2.
