Re: Z800 3d Visor
Yeah I use mine for movies on the labtop and occasionally for privacy but yes the resolution is far to low at this point to be worth using in high tech games.
Eventually this will evolve into something truly wonderful for gamers however until that point it is a first generation glimpse into what nanotechnology and OLEDs are capable of and it is actually quite gorgeous to watch movies on.Comment

Re: Z800 3d Visor
the reason people get noseous (sp?) (ie sick :P)
is that their is a lag (ALWAYS too LONG) for the user
eg
user moves his head,
image is still computer at original head poisiton
then - image is updated and jumps over
this causes a 'swimming effect' however imperceptable it may be
it takes very sophisticated hardware/software to compensate for this
( I know - as I had the original Govt contract to do this in 1987 :P)
and nothing has changed physiologically
of coursem teh user could train himself to close his eyes while moving his head, then he could do OK
next issue(s) have been styated above
still need higher rseoution, and of course, sophisticated optics in order to deceive the eye into focusing at an imaginary point several feet in front of you, not on an image that is inches from your eyeComment

Re: Z800 3d Visor
3D glasses has been supported by NVidia cards since year 2000 or sometime around that, for any game that uses OpenGL or Direct 3D, and depend on the power of the video card, you can go to high resolutions beyond 800x600. The only catch is you have to use a CRT monitor, although they are talking about expanding support to some LCDs and front projectors.Originally posted by tekeenAround six months ago I saw a piece of display hardware from a company called emagin. It looks very promising for gamers since it provides extreme immersion. They showed it off at E3 with Americas Army and it was pretty well recieved there.
It has two 800x3x600 oled screens mounted to a visor that has built in high fidelity headphones and a microphone.
It also has full 3d support for certain graphics cards which could be a good thing. Its light weight and to cap it off it FoV has 360 degree head tracking on a simulated 105 inch screen.
The only problem I can see with it is the resolution is pretty low, however for you high end gamers your graphics could really polish the image up well. Next year they plan on releasing a 1280x1024 version I believe.
Needless to say I have ordered one just to get a taste of this reinvigoration of the head mounted display technology that was so mangled by previous attempts using inferior technology.
