With the 1.0 retail release, it was possible. People would lock the server and get 3-4 people in and stat exploit.

That's why you can't lock a ranked server, and have to have so many to get it going.

Cheaters ruin it for everyone.

I will be stopping the sale of ranked servers next month due to this
problem.. all my customers complain that they can never get a game
going because of EAs silly rules..

hey EA.. heres an idea.. lets punish the 99% of legit players by making
them wait and wait and wait and wait.. so that the less than 1% of stat
exploitors cant get their stats.. great idea!


EA must be the biggest bunch of fools in the game publishing industry.
If it hadnt been for John Madden :) we may have gotten lucky and got
a real publisher with BF2, like EPIC..

I hate the 100% ticket ratio thing. The server I play on, ECGNetwork.com #1 (64 players) used to run some of the maps in 32 player mode because the 64 versions sucked (think Dragon Valley and Fushe Pass). With 100% tickets and 64 players on a map the game ends in about 15 minutes. Why cant we set the tickets higher? Some maps are just starving for more tickets.

You would have been made well aware of what you were allowed access to and not, if you didn't read the EULA which stipulated this then you can't blame EA for your lack of foresight.

If your reading the EULA then its already to late to return the game and get a refund. Every place I buy from stipulates that you can return the game provided you haven't opened it.

I am hoping that we can set the server slots down to a smaller number and increase it on the fly as people join. Example, I lease a 32-slot server. I use BF2CC to change the current # of players and map sizes to 16 players so that I only need 6 to start the game. Once I get 10 people in, I can then up it to my server max of 32 players and increase the map size on the fly for the next rounds. It would at least ease the burden somewhat. Ideally, EA will loosen the requirements to like 4 minimum or something. It does get frustrating to pay all that money for a server to see it sit empty 90% of the time...and the times it is empty are the times I have available to play! By the time enough people get on, I get a few rounds in and have to log.

So, all that said ... any small clans need a server to call home!! I have one available for use!!!!!

Yeah, but that isn't a big deal. As long as it is just a map restart and not a server restart, I can load a new map between rounds and up the number of players. I add maps and restart them all the time in between rounds and it works great. The only thing I cant do at the moment is change the slot size for the map which is what I hope is a feature I will be able to do in the future (up to the max slots for my server)

I haven't tried that yet but say you start a 16player game/map then you get the minimum 6 required for it to start if you immediately change to a 32player game/map and still only have 6 players the game won't start so I don't see the point in doing that because it requires 10 players and as soon as there isn't 10 players the game ends and won't start and be ranked until you get 10 players.

I think this system is totally ********. If someone want to cheat they can go to a 16 slot ranked server, so I dunno why the 32/64 need 10 ppl? If they are more than 10 they can easy fit on 16 slot and can kick all the newcomers.

Took me a while to find this thread, so I am going to have my tuppence worth.

First thing though, I find it pointless and sad to see a load of people posting abuse and rants. That is not going to produce a response from EA.

The Point
We pay for a 32 man ranked server, which sits empty 95% of the time. People come, sure, then generally leave after 5 mins and go looking for a fuller server.

One of the suggestions that I had read was a system where the game starts when 2 or more people join, but the points do not start recording until there are the required numbers of players on the server.

We, as a clan, are not going to waste our money on a server that sits empty, it is pointless.

Has anybody had a response from EA about this at all?
