    Re: Verifying Client Data?

Look for Linux or Linux64 servers.

The MD5 checksum is turned off on those servers, so you have no client data to verify.

You can find these by looking for the Penguin or the "64" symbol in the server browser.

Maps tend to load faster anyway with Linux servers.

Yup its slow, not to worry 1.2 will optimise that. I found defragementing my harddrive made it a bit faster. I use norton system works to defragement, if u use the one windows has defrag a few times to get anything good.

verifying client data is when the server is checking the map you've loading to make sure that it's not different compared to theirs, eg . modded map, boot you.

I have the same problems sometimes but one day i was messing around and I fixed the problem. I re-retreived my account and it hasnt taken as long to verify client data. It is worth a try. I do it alot. But this will reset your controls.

It's not rude. It helps people to figure out what hardware configurations will verify client data faster. Like this:

No, it isn't. It's BF2 running MD5 hash checks on your game files.

This topic was already beat to death in a previous forum topic:

More RAM helps. (2 Gb is optimal for BF2)
Defragging your drive, and maintaining at least 15% free space will help.
A faster hard disk helps. (snipelfritz has a 5400 RPM drive).

That will solve the problem completely for anyone who's having a severe problem. No other solutions are available, so pony up for some hardware, or play on servers that don't verify.

I think there is more to it than pure horsepower. I recently upgraded from WinXP to WinXP Pro. Under XP, verify times were 2 minutes. I never knew this was a problem. Under XP Pro the verify time is 8-10 minutes - this is bad....

                  Re: Verifying Client Data?

Sorry if I bumped this thread but

It has absolutely nothing to do with hardware...

                  I have
                  AMD Athlon 64 3800+
                  1gb Samsung Ram(crappy)
                  160gb 7200RPM Western Digi. HDD
                  BFGtech GeForce 7600GT 256MB Pci-E

It used to take me about 10-15 seconds to verify and after I reformatted it began to take about 5-10 minutes, When it is loading for me, it doesn't do a thing, the entire computer locks up and the music plays but it skips every now and then, the task manager says "Not Responding" and there is little to no activity. Once it kicks back into the game it takes about 10 seconds to verify.

This might have something to do with checking for ***** cracks, since my friend doesn't have this problem anymore after switching, I however, still need the CD.

I think that most people have this problem. I know I sure do. And I love how some in the past ***** (in other threads) that people don't have enough memory or their system specs are low. I have a Dual Core 2.8, 2GB memory, SATA 10k drive, and a Radeon X600. Not the fastest machine on the planet but shoot it's no slouch.

first time being on totalbf2 in a long while, kinda stopped playing bf2 but i guess i can help you guys out.

in some cases long VCD times can be a symptom of a larger problem, mainly after a harddrive error. check my other thread
