k this really needs to be bumped, this is getting beyond frustrating and makes me just not want to play the game, there really needs to be a solution figured out for this. 10% of the time that i play it never occurs but the other 90% it happens constantly, its impossible to do anything in infantry fight or fly helicopters low when my controls just get stuck in the complete wrong direction for 2 seconds every 10 seconds

I have a 6800 gt also, I too was getting "stuck" lt really sucks when your in a chopper or in the middle of a fire fight!
I smoothed the problem out by clicking on the nvidea icon on the task bar/preformance and quality settings/image settings-Check "high Preformance"
Im running all siders max/settings on high, with res of 1200x1600
If you have an X-fi sound card go to audio options in game and put settings on high and check the X-fi box, This will take more load off the motherboard.
dont forget to turn off any anti-virus/spy ware!
                hope this might help you.

You don't have to worry about turning off your malware protection while you're playing BF2. You are not downloading or executing unknown files so you have nothing to worry about.

Not entirely right.... true "You r not dwnlding/ exec. unknwn files", but u still have a connection and some IPdoors open. U should read about hacking thru internet, would be amazed...

I'd left my firewall/ spyware working (only).

That's why I leave NIS running and stay behind my router. And believe me, I've done plenty of reading on the subject. (Check my occupation. )

Well, seems u know what we r talking about.
I work on electronics, and w/ RF networking. Know a little of this.
But the guy should maintain some care w/ his connection, unless he has a router (well configured) too.

                            Re: "Stuck Mode"...

I read in the BF2 manual, or somewhere official from DICE through EA, that they actually recommend that you turn off antivirus protection before playing BF2. So whether or not it's risky, it's "officially endorsed" so to speak.

it occurs with my usual programs open or with absolutely nothing running except the necessary, i run no anti-anything software, stickies key are off, no other bandwith is being used, as i said the fps are constant with no dips whatsoever when the "stuck mode" occurs
