ok i just got rid of my 7900gt ko superclocked for a new evga 8800gtx !!!
well heres my system specs
CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ slot AM2 OVERCLOCKED Muti 11X HTT 226 at 2.49 Ghz CPU Cooling: Freezer 64 Pro idle 34 Full load 48
MOBO:ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570
GFX card:EVGA 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 128 Stream Processors OVERCLOCKED ROP 625mhz, Shader 1464mhz, Memory 1030mhz
PSU OCZ GameXStream 700watt
RAM:OCZ Gold Series 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5400)
CASE:ASPIRE X-Navigator Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
HDD:2 Western Digital Caviar 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s In RAID 0 Total HDD space = 465 GB
OS:Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Monitor: 2 Acer 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 1680X1050 Cloned
now i had the same set up but just with the 7900gt ko supcerclocked. i had my bf2142 settings set to all high but geometries at medium and AA at 2X and i play at 1680X1050.
when i had the 7900 i would get around 45 fps in a full 64 server and drop to 30-35fps during a big battle/firefight.
now i get the same fps with the 8800gtx with the same settings in bf2142? i may get 5 fps or so gain overall from the 7900 but thats it.
i was expecting to get at least 55fps all around and see it drop to 40 fps with a fight but i guess im wrong.
Am i not seeing any fps gain because of my cpu?? i know i have a AMD and i do plan on buying a E6750 c2d very soon (thinking about saving more to get the Q6600) and i know that will help my overall gameplay in all games but would it help me get out of this hole that im in for 2142??
