  • 2142 Crashes to Desktop with an Error

Ok, only thing I've done is install new vid drivers. I played bf2 today with them and had no problem. Now, I try to get into 2142 and the screen goes black(as if it were starting), flickers, then comes back to desktop...

Should I uninstall the new drivers?
If yes, then why do they work with bf2...

I have done nothing else to my pc. I don't know what to do. It worked fine the day before.

This is just like steam back in the DOD 1.3 days...

You could try deleting the battlefield 2142 folder from My documents.
You will need to login and set up your controls/video/audio,etc again.

you should delete that folder after every driver update, but if you want to keepyour settings just delete the mods folder

                I upgraded my video from a x850 to a x1650 pro.

when you update your video drivers do you use driver cleaner. old driver not uninstalled right can give you a hard time..i have a 1650 pro as well, a couple drivers back from the latest gave me a real hard time.

I used driver cleaner yesterday, uninstalled everything that was ATI. Installed omega drivers, which wouldn't see my card.
Deleted omega and tried the latest ati driver and still get the error...

the next thing i would try is reinstalling 2142 but that just me.

did you clear out you cache after putting in your new video card.

Yeah, might do that. Though I hate reinstalling, takes forever with EA Downloader

look in your eadm folder its in c:/programdata your installer should still be there. move them out before uninstalling. after you got 2142 uninstalled go in the files and run the installer. no need to redownload.
