How would other admins deal with servers that copy their brand name?

Just wondering. It seems Timeless has always had its plague of copycats long before I was ever an admin there.

Heres the 24,000 dollar question.

You have a server called. "Bestserver"

It gets to be No 1 in the world. Nextw eek someone starts a server called "Bestserver Casino"

and shortly after "Besterserver Casino by M and M's"

How do you react

LOL not just them so far there are several copies. Two have succumbed gallantly to our requests but two have not. I just wondered if this was a Timeless only issue or if other servers have suffered.

One of my issues is that I was on a certain server (possibly or not possibly mentioned in this thread) where one of the members admitted to killing the enemis titan gunners by RDX glitching because he said he was "not an admin and could not stop AA spamming any other way." Never mind the other innocent sods he killed. I am concerned people thinks its a Timeless server and treat everything named as Timeless the same way.

Any thoughts? Experiences?

I think the message that comes up on Timeless about it not being a fake KAIN AFK server is pretty good :)

i saw those the other day and was like wtf?? any way i presumed they were a copy so i jumped onto timeless gibralta sry but wow rdx bunnyhop spam other then the idiots that would kamikazi people it was quite good.

Why don't you get in touch with their server provider and see if they are a bit more reasonable?

If they copy your name Exactly word for word and they've had a history of doing this to other communities they can be dealt with by punkbuster. I know from a personal experience a few years back.

I would completely ignore it... the more you think, frett over it the more they have on you.... and as for that STUPID server message "not being a fake KAIN AFK server" its totally childish, i wouldnt even stoop to their level.. people know what the timless server are and they know about kains server... put all your efforts and enegy into your own server and stop worrying about what some lame *** clan is doing...


p.s. think as it as a compliment.. if someone wants to imitate your server then you know you must be doing something right.

They tend to be named Timeless <map name> or Timeless <booster pack name>

I was disappointed with there little messages, which were very childish at the beginning, and eventually toned down somewhat, although I'm not sure what they're like now.

Thats not my doing. I will probably change those over time as I gain more responsibility anyway.

I beleive there was huge animosity because N@M played on Timeless servers but Kain was eventually banned because he was always taking commander positions and then going AFK. I understand it created huge distrust of Timeless servers for a while and loads of anger amongst regulars.

Again before my time. I was just wondering if other servers have had name copiers. Looks like it might just be Timeless issue.

Well if you wanna get your server popular fast, Timeless [insert word here] is a good idea. I mean, everyone probably searches for Timeless in the advanced section, and somebody's Timeless Casino server will come up too, so that = lots of players fast.

Anyway tbh there's really nothing you can do except degrade the copycats.

Just like soulja boy did(if anyone knows who that is) The way he got heard is he'd put his song on the internet but name it a famous song like "50 Cent" or "Nelly." and He's famous now. Now that I think of it, it is a good idea, but kinda rude.
