Yet another Vista issue

Ok so here's the problem I load the game fine and I get to see the list of online servers but within like a couple of seconds it will crash and the Vista window pops up saying "search for a problem" and it never finds a solution. Anybody know what I can do to fix this?

Maybe it's a Vista security issue? because after it crashed and showed that window which searched for a solution another window popped up asking to either block or unblock the game...it still doesn't work even after I unblock it, but maybe I have to manually go in somewhere within Vista to fix a setting to allow it to run??

Cliff notes:
BF2142 starts up fine
It crashes to desktop once I get to the main menu

Are you running BF2142 with administrator rights? That usually takes care of a lot of issues.

Also are you using any firewall besides the windows default? And do you have a antivirus program installed that could be blocking it?

I tried administrator already and no there is no other firewall that I know of.

I highly doubt it's a "vista" issue. I've been running this game on Vista since I've gotten it and my game works fine. I have had issues the two most prominent being Punkbuster issues (not vista) and the freezing while loading issue (software, not vista). Almost every problem I've read about with this game have been software related or hardware related...not OS related. Start searching the support forum for similar issues. If you are having it someone else has also.

Vista may have its issues but it seems to be the easy scapegoat when things go wrong. I'll lay $$$ that you find it is something completely unrelated to your OS.

And yeah I guess I am just blaming it on Vista I'll take a look at the hardware and reinstall it liek I said. Thanks for the help so far I'll post again once I finish reinstalling.

Ok so I reinstalled it and that issue is no longer the problem.

NOW I get kicked randomly by punkbuster (the error message says simply "Punkbuster")...thoughts?

I dled that thing and followed the instructions but it still randomly kicks me. All the message says is "PUNKBUSTER", nothing else.

I also get those kicks every so often. Not much though so I just find a new server an join it.
