thread closing

whats the deal with the "thread happy closing" springing up yet again?

how do you expect people to populate the forums if threads just keep getting locked all the time.

the last few threads have been reasonable and had no real intention of being locked.

have you admins got tired of firing nerf guns at each other in the office, or run out of coffee and are passing the time waiting for one of your minions to go grab some nescafe???

give some leway to the new posters.

I don't see a lot of closed threads and the Vault hasn't had a new thread dumped in it for ages. The "Where is Ezekiel" thread was pages of moronic babble, if that's what you're talking about. Not to mention talk of hacks and exploits which are pretty questionable in the first place.

Believe me, the admins here are very tolerant compared to most.

Well just like the newbie question thread it just closed for no reason. Was a honest question and no one got flamed. He is new to the game and community but yet has a question closed. So I am assuming they just want the community to die off.

Whilst I understand both sides of the argument.... having to close threads that are going nowhere or closing threads that might have strayed into neo nazi references for example.... It might be a reasonable request to have a post from an admin as to why a thread is being closed. This might help people steer clear of making the same type of posts again that admins find undesirable.

Or better still use your forum powers to delete or remove offensive material from an individual posting and let the thread continue if there is a reasonable topic being discussed. Don't let a few flame wars ruin good arguments.

fair enough but it seems some people are way to over sensitive to the smallest of of things posted on here. My point is that whenever theres a new thread its a breath of fresh air to ther forum which brings people to talk regardless of flame wars, trash talk etc.. it keeps the forum alive doesnt it.

I love this forum. The admin do a good job most times. Plus it's a good area to meet to people. AND ALMOST EVERYONE HERE HATES DOOOOOOOOOOOORMAN.

the OP got his answer so i locked it at the risk of the thread turning out to be a 20page answerbook to a simple question, makes it a reference point for those who use the search function aswell.

I will agree there is a concern for new discussion topics. use the search function and lets face it, after a year EVERYTHING has been dicussed that can be discussed. And we recently had a thread saying don't re-open old topics.

Thats a bit contradictory. People want to chat about subjects that are new to them. Yes there are subjects that don't need more discussion like Voss vs other guns etc but is the forum catering to its age old regulars who DON't seem to be posting new threads anymore basically because they have said it all. Or is it caring for those either new to BF2142 or those joining the forums for the first times.

There are dozens of people who LIKE to help shown recently in a how to pod thread. Just because old timers have read the same question again and again it doesn't mean others feel the same.

Look at todays threads in this section. How many 5-7? For a forum with up to 300 players reading at a time thats not a lot of discussion is it?
