Team Fortress 2 Beta is out

OMG! This game totally rocks! Team Fortress 2 will knock your socks off if you like class-based team warfare. The "rock+paper+scissors" game play is very challenging and rewarding. I'm personally a 'support' type player and the Medic is fun, and the Engineer owns all once he gets his defenses set up.

I can't recommend this more highly. After trying ETQW and sorta liking it, but not convinced it is for me, I'm happy to find a game I know I'll be spending countless hours playing.

Kinda disappointed that there aren't any grenades any more (concs were a must for medics) and the skill level has been reducded dramatically from TFC.

I think I'll stick with Fortress Forever :)

Well, my opinion of these boards has been significantly lowered but that aside, I'm very picky about things, especially when something has a lot to live up to.

Yeah, I hear you and agree. I have not had the pleasure to experience Fortress Forever, so I'm going to have to give it a try.

I had a blast (quite!) this morning playing TF2, so I was shocked to hear your take on it. Different strokes for different folks...

I'm actually very glad that Grenades can only be accessed from Demomen. Less Spaming, no Bunnyhopping, multiple routes, this adds a great deal into tactics.

I don't get why people hate the Spawn time, it's fine as it is, and you ought to get punished like that if you die too often. :p

This, next to CoD4 are going to blow me away from BF2142 for sure.

Played it again this morning. It is fast and furious. If you are not a team player and buddy up to support and be supported, you will die frequently. This is really quite fun and light hearted. The humor in the game is a nice change of pace from the typical serious frag fest.

The Spy is awesome.

A friend played a Spy, ran to the enemy base disguised as an enemy Engineer, got healed by an enemy Medic while he snuck up to knife a dude in the back, then finished the Medic off with his pistol.

Wow, now that's entertainment!

I like how when Stat tracking, it doesn't track down some of the Negatives, like Death count and Death streaks. It makes sense, as Scouts have to run Rambo into the enemy base and don't have the time for kills, or Medics, who spend most of their time healing.

It's the same with what valve did to DoD. Having played the originals of both games, valve's versions just don't really live up to the classics

Yep, makes me feel a whole lot better when i look at my 6 backstab streak lol

Initially, it appears that there is absolutely no teamwork except for ubercharging/healing medics

But once you get into it, wow. Me and a buddy were doing scout rushes on the first flags and capping them in 5 seconds.

And btw, 2 heavies >>>>>>>>> 1 heavy and 1 medic

Yep you can play it straight away, and there's no signup stuff to slow you down
