The technology would be cool, but currently I already find 64 player maps to be too chaotic when the players focus on the same spot.Originally posted by Sys.Op.that would be soo cool
So I am not sure that I would care for a Gamp G. with 200 players.
I tried searching wiki for further info: donnybrook, a scene of uproar and disorder, or a heated argument

Come on admit it would be cool to kill 20 people with one grenade?
Nah bigger maps would be cool but It'd be more fun with new maps, like Camp G only 3 times the size.Comment

Is it just me, or did the DonnyBrook demo look more choppy than the standard gameplay demo? o.O He was all, like, "here, we have a normal game, and it's really choppy. Here we have DonnyBrook, and it's as smooth as butter" (paraphrased)... And you see all the characters jumping around madly.Comment

Absolutely, but I find it more likely that there will be 20 people constantly throwing grenades.Originally posted by -(UtC)- Iquere «Come on admit it would be cool to kill 20 people with one grenade?
As for the larger maps, I remember planetside which has that.
Unfortunately you usually end up with 50 versus 10 in one corner of the map and 10 versus 50 in the other corner, instead of 30 versus 30 each place.Comment

Technological issues aside it's hard to make 200 people on the server to make the game rewarding for all of them. Now the rewarding system is almost solely based on individual achievements and statistics. 95% or more of the players just want to do their thing. How to change that to people trying to help their team to win will win a game of the year award.
Opening up the maps with 200 players would not help since the concept in bf series would not work any better than the current 64. How to make the concept work to keep 100 people on one side happy and interestet is the biggest problem. one thing that could work could be to have big campaigns where strategic planning would play some role where the round winner side could choose where to attack next. And no tickets or anything but some major goals would have to be met before winning the round and pushing the war effort to the next map/level. And no individual statistics would be needed.
This kind of bigger war concept would require bots to fill in the empty spots to keep the war going all at all times.
World in Conflict concept seems very intriguing where the team effort dictates the outcome. I have to keep my eyes open for that one to see how they pull it off.Comment

Planetside has all that, but it still fails to deliver.Originally posted by looqasOpening up the maps with 200 players would not help since the concept in bf series would not work any better than the current 64. I don't think any game will work that requires centralized command of a large number of random players.
Even making a squad work in BF2142 is hard.
IMHO the best fights are with 20-40 players, so there is no gameplay improvement by adding more players. Either the game becomes to chaotic and random, or the players wlil scatter all over the map and take turns zerging the weak points of the opposition. Just like planetside.Comment

That would be amazing, having several hundred people on a map in any type of MMOFPS.
I think it could actually encourage teamwork too. With so many people playing at a time your odds of surviving on your own without dying a lot would be pretty small. Your chances of survival would increase if you had a squad of teammates working together to watch each other's backs and protect each other.Comment

QFT, I hope they can make it work. It was laggy, but hey, they're still working on it right? It seems to be extremely early in development.Originally posted by jake___That would be amazing, having several hundred people on a map in any type of MMOFPS.

Stuff like this makes me wonder what gaming will be like 10-15 years from now......Comment
