RDX users

What I don't understand is how people can drop, switch, and detonate so fast. Whenever I try to quickly switch to the detonator and blow an RDX pack up it always, and I mean always, automatically switches me back to RDX and drops another pack at my feet. Well okay, it doesn't do it when I'm on my last RDX pack, but still. Most annoying. Always happened to me with C4 in BF2 also. That's why I've never been able to understand how some people can do it so quickly. Do the macros people use somehow prevent the game from auto-switching back from the detonator?

Ah yeah, okay, so you know exactly what I mean, then. And one of the people who responded said that you had to wait until the detonator was fully out before pressing fire or it would switch back, well that's really the cause, either. I was playing Gib yesterday and I need to get some more global explosives kills so I was tossing RDX off of balconies and onto the troops below and I made sure after switching to the detonator that I gave it plenty of time to 'settle in' before clicking fire, and it would automatically switch back anyway, even without me pressing the fire button. Could have been lag, but it happens to me every time, not just once in a while, and like I said it's been happening since BF2 as well. Many times I saw a DPV heading up the road towards me so I'd quickly set up a C4 trap, then as he got close I'd switch to the detonator and be ready to blow it up, only to have it switch back and drop a C4 at my feet while the DPV goes flying past (and if I was lucky he wouldn't run me over :dead: ).

At least now I know I'm not the only one with this issue. :nod:

It only really bothers me in FF-off servers when they run up to you and use it that way. I might even consider it a little lame for people to whore it on FF-on servers, but if you can RDX-hop/toss on FF-on servers without killing yourself or your teammates, more power to you.

I always play FF on servers so it isn't so bad, props to the guys who do it as they usually put it in good places.

You won't get kicked for RDX, were you playing on the server I was on?

I'm not sure, what servers do you usually go on? Mine are... sux2bu, SOC, miaclan, and moongamers.

Oh man, last night, I was playing in Gib and this guy kept working the rdx bunny hop. That got pretty annoying after a while, but i'll admit, i got a few in myself. Well, admittedly, I'm no good with the hopping myself, i just tend to run in and toss.

yeah, it's the guys that detonate with the RDX without incurring any damage which just irritate me to no end. if you can do that on a FF=ON server, then kudos. The other way is just cheap and lame IMO. But, to each their own... I just choose to leave and play somewhere else.
